Now I understand why Chad Dawson will not fight Adrian Diaconu

That is true. However, Dawson had multiple other opportunities to make the fight again and chose not to. Instead, he went Riddick Bowe when faced with Lennox Lewis.

This is a business. There are guys you don't match up well with. I got that, and Dawson certainly isn't the first person to go this route, nor will he be the last.

But when I see threads about Dawson being the greatest fighter at 175 or under, it's just ridiculous. And his dodging of Diaconu is a great way to bring things back to reality.

Guys like Pac, Calz, Williams and others deserve more respect than that. I love Margo, but I give HUGE props to Paul Williams. He is a hell of a fighter and deserves respect. Same with Pavlik. And others.

Dawson takes DickAnal to school. Dawson, who I think is good fighter but not great, would pitch a shut out. Dawson should be looking for the Calzaghe/Jones winner instead. Not these no name Euros.

I don't even know if guys have seen Dianconu fight lol. He is 30 years old, has no true power and is looking for a big fight. Rico Hoye was a bum. Dianconu has fought in front of his fans his whole career against who? Dawson is a vulnerable fighter, but is Dianconu the guy to exploit Dawson? Only if the fight is in Canada. Why should Dawson try to make a fight with a man who pulled out of a fight because of injury when he beats 2 of the best lightheavies in the division? They say Dawson has a weak chin, but I've never seen him truly hurt. I've seen him down, and wobbled, but he was clear headed, and has come back and given his own. Dianconu has not been in a fight like that. And at 30, his time is running out. At 5'9 175, his career won't last at lightheavy.

Tarver's left is far more powerful than Diaconu's. The resume's say so. If Tarver couldn't, if Johson couldn't, if Adamek couldn't, then the weaker, slower, and lighter hitting Diaconu won't.

    Dawson TKO in 6.

Yes, he does. But I think Taylor has more heart.

Taylor showed HUGE balls coming back and immediately rematching Pavlik after that KO. And he fought a much smarter fight the second time around. That really showed great will and focus.

Dawson and Taylor are both very physically talented fighters. Neither has what I would call a true "fighter's mentality," but Taylor is, I think, 'harder' and scrappier than Dawson is. Dawson just doesn't have that extra gear. Taylor doesn't always have it, either, but when he's pressed he does have it.

There were a lot of times tonight that Dawson could have pressed a faded Tarver, but he didn't. Truth be told, no fighter is perfect. Dawson has a huge amount of talent, but he has weaknesses as well. His chin, his mentality and his defense are several.

I think Diaconu would give him a lot of problems. Especially because of the left hook and Chad's low right hand.

I do think Chad has come around at a good time. He could hang around for many years without having too tough of a make of it if he's matched well. I would keep him away from Diaconu, Kessler and Calzaghe. Even at this age, Joe would be a handful for Chad.

Guys that have the minimum skill level and are still close enough to their primes can challenge Chad. The fighter should have a punch and ok speed. To tell you the truth, I haven't watched enough LHW's to tell you all the names of the guys who I think might give Chad a good fight. CD did beat Adamek, and I respect that. Tomasz is no push over.

Chris Henry could give Chad a good fight as well. Henry has a terrific chin and energy. He can fight.

Tarver looked geriatric tonight. I love him, but he had nothing on his shots this evening. It was sad to watch.

Diaconu's left hook, at the present time, has much more on it than does Tarver's. The Roy Jones TKO days are well in the past for Magic Man.

I with all respect disagree in general with that statement. The second half of the fight, Tarver's power went, I'll concede. But he was whacking Chad in the 6th. Honestly, rounds 3 and 6 looked to me like vintage Tarver. He faded bad, but it still doesn't change the fact that he was dangerous, has a better KO rate than Adrian, who is actually not a big hitter to begin with. Honestly, Adamek is the biggest puncher Chad has fought. If he can take THAT right, Diaconu's left isn't really scary. Johnson also thwacked him with a highlight reel shot that Chad withstood. Diaconu just doesn't hit like that, and has no real defense himself.

Exactly. Tarver didn't have **** on his punches he's a done fighter. He picked up the belt because Clinton wood was 1)even more done than him and 2) not all that good to begin with.

I don't really think that a 5'9" light heavy is exactly a supreme threat to Dawson but he's the best of the rest out there and no matter what anyone says he does have serious power.

    Make the fight.

    Excellent post. :good

Paulfv just doesn't like fighters like Dawson (he already admitted that) and will try to come up with anything to degrade him.

Diaconu isn't a threat to Dawson, mate. Give the man some credit instead of calling him a fraud, just a few hours after he became lightweight champion of the world.

The kid is willing to fight the best, let him prove himself.
