Now I understand why Chad Dawson will not fight Adrian Diaconu

Dawson got a lot more than just money out of beating Tarver. He got the exposure he needed and he wouldn't have gotten that with a win over the shark. Tarver is a big name people know who he is that will help out Dawson's marketability in the long run.

Exatly. Dawson just got the biggest win of his career. Tarver may not have been the best fighter Dawson beat(Adamek would have beat a 2008 Tarver), but his marketability just went up. Now fights with Calzaghe, Pavlik-Hopkins winner, Taylor, or whoever just got bigger. This fight was a smart move for Dawson and I thought he looked pretty good in the ring as well.

Yap, and if you are a fan of Dawson, rather than principally, a fan of boxing, or if you in some way made money the more money Dawson was making, that would be great! I still don't get it why so many people here are happy Dawson is making a lot of money taking low risk/high reward fights...:huh

I know that every good fighter is capable of having an off night but you'd figure that Diaconu's fans wouldn't be so vocal considering how he looked against Chris Henry.

Diaconu needs to worry about Branco first before he even starts thinking Chad Dawson again.

...right, because what? Henry is ****? Is he **** because Diaconu couldn't beat him clearly or why? How do you know how tough/strong/hard-chinned, hard-punched Henry is? He's only been beaten once, by Diaconu, and that was by a whisker.

Diaconu looked worse than ever, stamina wise. His team said he was suffering from an illness, but went through with the fight, underrating Henry's chin and toughness - Diaconu thought he'd get him out in a 5-6 rounds. Whether that is an excuse or not, Diaconu is a dangerous puncher and a good finisher, and as such, he'd have a better chance against Dawson than many others.

Diaconu is not thinking about Dawson at all, mate. His next fight is against Branco and if he wins that, it's Johnson next. Dawson will never fight Diaconu, so there's no point for him to even consider the thought.

    Yep.
Its pretty funny that many people on here are pretending that the Tarver victory is significant....He struggled and arguably lost to Glen Johnson and ducked the toughest challenge he had in Diaconu....
Diaconus left hook would find a home on the glass chin of Dawson with relative ease and Dawson wouldnt be getting back up.....

Henry is a good fighter who fougth a great fight and Diaconu didn't fight at his best but he still beat him even barely.Henry is a top 10 fighter. And Branco is probably the only thing Diaconu is thinking about, you are right there

As a fan of boxing I appreciate Dawson facing some of the best in his division. Adamek, Johnson, and Tarver in a 5 fight stretch is what a fan can appreciate. How could you possibly complain about Dawson and his competition?

As for Dawson's purses. I don't have any interest in what he does or does not make for his fights. But if I'm being objective than I can totally understand him wanting to fight Tarver. Money, marketablitly, and a top 5 type light heavyweight all in one fight. I'm not really sure what you're upset about.

What were fans upset about when Mayweather avoided Cotto, Margarito and Williams, fighting Hatton instead, for example? I'm not really sure what it is you don't understand. As a boxing fan, I want to see the most meaningful fights out there, not just those that make a fighter look unbeatable. You talk like Dawson's accountant or promoter would. I look at things from the point of view of a fan (of boxing). From Dawson, I wanted to prove his chin and mental strength. Diaconu would have been a very good person to prove those things against. Dawson chose not to. Yet...he's p4p No.1, having not had to prove his chin?

Wrong! You act as if Tarver is a weak puncher or Adamek both who punch harder than the Shark and have proved it against elite comp unlike the shark who has shown good power against cans. Dawson's chin has been tested by two big punchers what more proof do we need? Lastly Dawson proved his mental tougness by fighting Johnson who was relentless had him hurt but he didn't run he fought back. Also against Tarver who's one of the best in the game at getting in people's heads but Dawson didn't fold he let his fist do the talking in the ring. Dawson has passed all test so far. While your boy hasn't and he's the one you should be calling out not the other way around.:deal
