What opinion will people have of haye if he does go in there and stop vlad? Putting aside the Harrison farce, beating vlad would cement a legacy, and sets up a career ending fight with vitali. Unifying two weight divisions against the best guys in the division for me would make him an ATg and a future hof'er. Opinions?
I don't think he'd go down as an ATG, he just hasn't had enough fights, cruiserweight isn't a marquee division and the heavyweight division is weak. Not sure whether he'd qualify for second best post war brit behind Lewis, perhaps given the fact he unified 2 divisions. Lets not get ahead of ourselves though, he's got to beat Wlad yet, which won't be easy but I fancy Haye to nail him at some point.
possibly ye. i think and expect him to KO wlad early to mid. and outbox plus tko/stop vitali. he will be unified cruiser champ and undisputed heavyweght champion.how many others will have done the same?.
Dvb that's my point. It's not Hayes fault that his opposition isn't as strong as in other eras, you can only fight who's around at that time. Marquee division or not mormeck wasn't a mug. Haye went into the lions den and got the result in devastating fashion. I think if he pings vlad and deals with vitali he's on for atg
I think it will give him a good legacy having beaten the best there is to beat in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions whether or not they are weak compared to the past. Where does everyone think he will stand against the great british fighters we've had before?
Jesus Christ! Do many people actually think this? Haye doesn't have a hope of beating both of them. Come in to the real world, Haye is nothing special.
If Haye fights and beats both Klits he'll have had 28 professional fights. You can't have any basis whatsoever for making an ATG claim when a fighter finishes his career with less than 30 fights. Well I suppose you could, but only in exceptional circumstances. Put it this way: the Klits, between them are 96(87)-5-0 and it's tough to make a case for them being ATG in many people's eyes.
i think if he beats both Klitsckos you have to rank him as an ATG. How many fighters unify and win lineal title in 2 weight divisions, especially if he does it all by KO
The champion makes the belt not the other way around. His unifying consists of beating two poor champions on the same level of the guys the Klits have been destroying every few months for the last several years. Enzo and Mormeck, that isn't anything special. You're putting too much stock into the fact that they held belts. Having said that, if he did beat both Klitschko brothers :nut, it would be a fantastic achievement because they are both elite fighters. It would make him HOF worthy without a doubt because those two are certs for the HOF.
Vitali shouldn't, and hopefully will never be anywhere near the HOF. The only thing remotely HOF about what he has done in boxing his giving an old Lewis a very good fight. I hate the way the Klits are seemingly lumped together when people talk about their legacies and such. They're separate fighters and should be treated as such.
I think what is impressive about haye is that he has had less than 30 fights and that he is able to split opinion like this. I think he has a strong case.
Haye has the puncher's chance, but that's it. Most likely Wladimir will outclass him, shut him out and knock him out. Truth is, Wlad's got nothing much to gain apart from the purse. If he wins (which he should), anyone who hasn't realized yet will become aware that Haye had no real achievements at heavyweight anyway, and Wlad's beaten more accomplished fighters than him. Still, I think Wladimir has a good enough run behind him to be included among the second-tier of heavyweight "greats". To be honest, i don't think Lennox Lewis did that much more than him. Both Wlad and LL are boring fighters, but they dominate the field so deserve some respect. IF Haye wins, yeah, he'll be remembered as special. It will be a huge upset.
I think people are missing the point with haye. He fought a super intelligent fight v valuev. Outside of his own back yard. Dominated his natural weight division. Is fighting guys who are always going to be naturally bigger than him at heavy weight. And he isn't being written off by a lot of people. He isn't every ones cup of tea. But if he beats vlad he will be beating someone of immense experience, and someone who is a genuinely feared heavyweight with a world class jab. If klitchko is the best out there is that Hayes fault! No! I don't think Hr did himself any favours fighting Harrison. But he did it and we move on. We are now getting the fight we were accusing him and vlad of bitching out of. Let's be glad we are getting it. I've moaned recently about fights not getting made, I am happy now we have a genuine heavy weight super fight to look forward to. Vlad IMO should be a hofer, and haye should be too if he beats both klits to unify the division. Unifying two divisions in under 30 fights. It would be one **** of an achievement. It might just be that haye is that good he beats both of them and the klits are unlucky they were in an era that David haye exists!
