In my view, Calzaghe deserves #1 because all of his opponents since and including Lacy have been Ring Rated.

Then you have Lacy and Kessler who were close to Top 10 Ring P4P at the time he beat them.

He unified his division completely, holding all belts without losing.

Then went and beat a Top 5 P4P guy and got the Ring belt in another division.

On the basis that he is the only dual weight Ring Champ and now with Mayweather gone who had beaten Hatton to justify his placing, Calzaghe has done more in RING ratings than Paq has recently.

I said long ago that pac will only mopve up to #1 if pbf loses and/or retires. so pac IMO has already inherited this slot. but could very well lose it a few weeks from now.

this is very true. but what jc has done before his last 3-4 fights will compare in comparison with what pac achieved all throughout his career

Great point and with those wins they should have moved him to #3 or 4 especially over the likes of Marquez ..

P4P is "What have you done for me recently"

Not "What have you done in your entire career"

Weigh up the fact that Joe has held titles for over ten years, has record defenses and is managing, at the tail end of his career, to beat some of the very best names in the game.

If he beats Pavlik, there is no argument.

Pac deserves credit, but recent "shady" victories combined with the fact that his competition haven't been P4P ranked as high as Hopkins was nor Rated in their division like Kessler was puts Calzaghe ahead for me.

Ok how long have you followed P4P ?

It has never been about what has been done latly ! Not since Ray Robinson until now ! Only the Johnny Come Lately's are the ones who tarnish this list !! This is why people are putting the Kelly Pavliks and Haye's of the world on a P4P list with only a few signifigant wins !

Neither man has had sucess out side of their perspective divisions !

P4P is meant for the fighter who has all the physical attributes : speed power ,foot work etc while being successful while moving up in weight !

A fighter like Joe can be ranked because of his success at super middle and at lt heavy .He shouldn't be ranked too high because a fighter like Manny has had more success at diffrent weight classes ..

no it is not. pac winning two titles at 112 and 122 and beating MAB and morales is worth more than what jc has done his entire career. if p4p is indeed what have you done for me lately, then pavlik or cotto should go above calzaghe because they have won more convincingly.

and what shady victories are you referring to? so his last fight with jmm is one, what other shady victories did pac have recently?

How could you rate Pacman as p4p no. 1. after his LOSS against JMM...

He has to beat Guzman, Diaz and JMM convincingly to be p4p no. 1.

Pac has no loss to Marquez, it's in the books as a 1 win and 1 draw.

Calzaghe - He's undefeated and a champion for over 10 years..what more does he need to do?

Just because he fought against fighters you've never heard of, doesn't mean they were bums....As I live in the UK, most of Pac's fights weren't broadcast, but you won't see me posting that he fought bums.
