Now that CBZ has recognised Wlad as the lineal champion

Going into Spinks Tyson, Patterson was younger vs Moore, than Tyson was vs Spinks,

I think a year times or so between the 2 during there fights. Maybe 4 months. When Tyson won his first alpha title, Tyson was the youngest man to win a heavyweight title. But by the time he unify, and crush Spiinks. He was older than Patterson by that time.

 

Sad part is, Tyson probably would've done the same to him in 1986 if it was Spinks in the ring instead of Trevor Berbick and still beat the same #1 contenders Spinks didn't fight. Butch Lewis waited and angled hard to get Spinks that pay day. Tyson was the best heavyweight of that time period, lineage or not. And since we're being so specifically precise, the best Heavyweight of the 1980s.

Cyber Boxing Zone is a very, very rich source of knowledge on fighters' histories, championship lineages, title fights, etc, from a large source of dedicated boxing historians who painstakingly review the available materials in old publications and what have you. A lot of the fans on the classic forum consider it a trusted and valuable source, and it is used as a source on many, many boxrec pages also.

They have a history of the lineal/perceived to be lineal champions of all the divisions, along with citations for "claimants". And when it comes to who should be listed as the lineal champion, with the option that it may be nobody, they can be genuine hardasses. They seem to have retroactively accepted Ring's judgment that Volo should be considered the lineal champion after Chagaev, because they held out since that time to list him. It wouldn't be on the head of one person there, I don't think. It likely took several to finally push through as the majority opinion changed. It's a noteworthy thing the TS is speaking about that this bunch has resigned itself to the Volo reign, for the boxing historian circles.

I guess that negates his point because nobody would try particularly hard to be one of the top 24 highest paid athletes in the entire world. There's nothing to be gained from that. No one is even trying. Let's not bother talking about it.

 

Wlad is The Man at Heavyweight. He fought the better competitions over the years. Great Champ! Never avoid a manatory.:good

Yes and in 2006 Wlad fought Chris Byrd the No. 1 Heavyweight!

 

So was Holmes era, and look how highly Larry's regarded today. And Larry's reign has more holes in it than Wlad's does.

 

Vitali was never Lineal champion. Don't know where people get that idea from.

 

True Tyson beat Spinks 3 days before he turned 22. Floyd beat Archie I guess about 2 and a half months before he was 22. But Tyson was already undisputed before he was lineal which is where it gets confusing. So I just say,Tyson was the best heavyweight in the world at age 20.
