If this fight doesn't happen in 09 then I don't want to see it at all. Everyone can just go **** off because I wouldn't even be interested
Forget all the rest, all the bitching, the ducking, the politics, the calling out, all we want is the real fight. Get Mayweather on the ring with Cotto ASAP, for the fans, for the good of boxing. What a great battle that would be.
I understand the line fully but you have take from it and run with what you think Cotto wants... Cotto also says "I don't want anybody. The guy who want to fight me. All the big names I want to fight with them." Thats just skipped over. Bottom line, Cotto is a grown man...He never went on record and simply said...I want Mayweather...I want to fight and beat Mayweather. He doesnt have to insult or beg Floyd... Just simply ask for the fight...but he doesn't do that. So you have to look at both sides of the coin... So Cotto wants Floyd to demand a fight with him when he is ready? And if Floyd doesn't do that then he is ducking Cotto? :huh I just believe Cotto needs to also bear some of the responsibility of making the fight...or desiring fight instead of pointing every finger at Floyd...
It is rather frustrating. Floyd is clearly milking the sport and his name at this point. While fighting Delahoya again will make him a nice paycheck, it does nothing for his legacy, and in the meantime he's just getting older. Cotto's next two fights look like **** as well. As I stated before, these guys will probably avoid each other as long as they can, and along the way will each probably pick up a loss to someone unexpected, then when they are both past their primes and desperate for one last payday, THEN they'll fight.
You mean how Mayweather did for the De la Hoya fight heh. I think its a little late, he should have called him out earlier before Mayweather announced that he was taking a break from boxing. If anything, I think this move makes me question how much confidence Cotto had in himself previously, since waited until know, where he knows that maybe Mayweather's heart ain't into boxing like it used to be. he's already looking ahead to bigger and better ($$$) things, ala De La Hoya. We all know what happened to De La Hoya's record once he decided to be Mr Singer/ Promoter/ Actor/ CEO/ Plumber and everything else he decided to get involved with. Didn't Sugar Ray Leonard do something similar with Marvin Haglar? Wait until he knew Haglar was a bit more vulnerable before deciding to fight him.
Uhh, I forgot everything that you said, so ummm can you keep posting stuff so your avatar will be all over the page. That would be great.:good
Watching the ESPN classic channel I have been watching some of Floyds early fights against Pep, Genaro Hernandez and so on. Mayweather at THAT time stated he wanted to fight all the top guys. I wish he still felt that way instead of playing it safe with the Hattons and De La Hoyas and Gattis. Seems the ONLY way to motivate him is to go public and make him have to step up to answer the challenge. His fans WANT him to prove how good he really is but I think they believe in him a lot more than he believes in himself by the looks of things. If you are going to box then box, if you want to be in show business then do that but not both. Lennox Lewis can tell you all about it.
They will never face each other for the simple fact that Floyd wants to retire with that 0 on his record. By fighting has beens like oscar lets him accomplish this. Hes all about the fame and the status and that 0 on his record. He will never face him--ever.
Too little, too late. Cotto calls out Floyd and announces the Gomez fight... Arum has the winner of Cintron-Margo and possibly Mayo line up for him, Mayweather has Hoya in September. Nothing happens.
Cotto will have to call out Floyd if he wants the match , much like hatton did. It helps create wider public interest and the money mayweather wants. A years hype would suit PBF.
He said he's pretty sure he can beat him. Pretty sure?? He'd better do more than just be pretty sure because that right there indicates some trepidation imo.
Why does challenging the recognized #1 WW when you are recognized #2 WW ruin your image? Floyd certainly isn't going to call him out, Floyd doesn't call out anybody and you don't have to when you are P4P #1 and Ring Champ at Welterweight. It ruins Cotto image not to call out the best Relentless. Geez your ****ing dumb atsch
