First of all, Cotto is extremely beatable under a number of circumstances. It doesn't just have to be pressure. Secondly, you're assuming that Cotto is going to be prepared for every bit of assault and pressure he faces in the future based on an extremely well rehearsed gameplan executed specifically for Margarito drawn up months ago and practiced to perfection. Again, how hard is it to box the **** out of Margarito or shopworn Shane Mosley (BTW, shot Vargas was doing it too)? You need to put Cotto's actual ability into the proper context. What I'm getting from you, is still some of the hype it seems, Shift. Cotto was very fortunate to get past Torres. The only reason he did so was a simple matter of shot selection. When Cotto was hurt and on the ropes last night we saw the proper way to do it from Margarito - uppercut, uppercut, uppercut. Not 1-2, 1-1, 1-2-3, ect, like we got from Torres. The significant thing here is that Cotto has been in trouble so many times. Now we can talk about how "nobody" could carry off his doom - but try and keep in mind that he's been at the precipice of doom, many, many times and all it would have taken was a small push to send him over. What Margarito did was very subpar, not unmatchable. Not at all. Margarito just stuck to one of the clearly understood plans of action to beat Miguel Cotto, and he did it as best as he physically could - which wasn't all that great.
I understand your point bro, and it is valid, but I just can't think of a welter that would be able to really get the job done like margo did. Yes cotto has been in trouble and he is susceptible to the uppercut, but margo is a beast raf, and I don't know of anyone that would be able to fight cotto for 11 rounds without taking a backward step. Margo won because he is tough as nails and never stopped coming forward. That takes a lot out of a fighter, constantly fighting of the back foot and trying to move a lot as well. Then top that off with hittin the man with your best shots time and time again, and he just smiles and invited you to hit him a little more and a little harder, because that just aint gonna get it done. Thats disearting as **** m8. I have nightmare where I'm in a fight and my best punches can't hurt my opponent. Honestly. That is a reccurring nightmare for me. One of my only ones. And cotto just lived it the other night. My heart goes out to him and I just pray that this does not set him back too much and he is able to get back on track after 1 or 2 decent fights.
You have a good point overall. Is there actually someone out there at this time capable of carrying off the proper gameplan? I can't really say there is. Once again you demonstrate your greatness, Shift. Technically you'll never be beaten. Your points are too excellent. Cotto might fall randomly, but I like what you're saying here.
