And from that moment after Ike returned the knockdown favour in the 6th, his jab and right hand dominated the fight for the most part. There were many moments in the fight after the 6th where DelaHoya was nowhere busy enough to win the rounds. He flurried at the start and finish of the rounds and was not the aggressor. Yes he started to come on in the last two, putting Ike on the floor in the 12th.

Still wasn't enough on my scorecard based on what he did up to that point. I had Ike winning closely but comfortably going into the 12th. Delahoya probably thought that too. You could see the dejected look on his face with him shaking his head after the 11th.

Ike wasn't doing enough 10th-11th rounds. While Oscar wasn't do much either, he was still landing the better punches. Ike wasn't that far ahead to get demolished like that in the 12th round. Had Oscar not knocked him down and won a 10-9 round I had it a draw. If Oscar lost that 12th round Ike would've deserved the fight, but getting dropped like that and murdered on the ropes for almost a minute straight after, Oscar showed he wanted it more and earned the close victory. He landed more power punches, and dropped Ike more times. I remember Merchant saying Oscar wasn't doing much and then Foreman said Ike is doing even less, or something like that, going into the 12th. The momentum was going in Oscar's favor. Oscar had shut down for a few rounds, true, and he started catching up slowly. Oscar was ahead on scorecards before they traded those knockdowns.
Yes, oscar knew he was behind going into the 12th, and did exactly what he needed to do to take the fight. He did what a champion does. Ike has nobody but to blame but himself for that loss.

Hoya has a huge scope ranking wise.

Depends how you saw his close fights.

If you think he beat pea, quartey and tito I see no reason to keep him out of a welterweight top ten.

If you scored them fights against him, well he could rank quite low.
