I got my avatar losing an avatar bet on Kessler/Ward. I'm not American.

And if you can't read my post and see that I make a clear distinction between the good Brits and the bad Brits then that is your problem. Some of my favourite posters here are Brits.

I figure that the decent Brit posters will have read my post and worked out that it didn't apply to them.

Those who get upset about it? Well, that speaks for itself doesn't it? Why would you care if it doesn't apply to you? I also figure that those who realise that the post does apply to them will fail to see the important distinction I made and will assume I am attacking all Brits. Well, that's because they are irrational. If they weren't then maybe they wouldn't be such shitty posters.

Actually I'm from Australia. Believe it or not we get Brittish humour. We have been bombarded with both Brittish and American television since forever. I even read a Fred Basset comic strip once.
However I know more Brits personally than Americans. Just as I am sure you are sick of Australians stinking up your pubs.

You notice annoying Americans more. That is understandable. From an outsider's perspective there are far more annoying Brit posters than American ones.

I think the problem is this "cultural" thing. We use that label to say "different but no better or worse".
However there are many aspects of American, British and Australian culture that are frankly embarassing. They are worse and saying otherwise is politically correct nonsense.
The best of British humour is something to be proud of. However, the thinking that pervades some poster's threads here - the thinking that Haye is some sort of comical genius - that is not something to be proud of. It may be considered cultural humour, but it is worse, not better.

Similarly you will notice how parochial other Australians have gotten when it comes to Danny Green. Again, this is worse, not better - and it is not something I am proud of.

Another example I just saw, from TommyV who I just put on my ignore list but was quoted by someone. He wrote "Haye didn't 'run like a sissy' against Valuev, he boxed smartly against a guy the Klitschko's didn't attempt to fight, funny that. Running like a ***** is what Vitali did from Corrie Sanders in round 1."
Is that cultural? Or just an individual being a dick?

Don't worry, there are a lot of crap Australian posters too. I have a lot of them on my ignore list. Life is too short - why would I bother reading pure **** from people who are either stupid or who post as though they were?

It's always possible to find out things about people that make you re-evaluate your opinion of them.

    Tiger Woods anyone?

If you're trying to say that it doesn't apply to me (as it doesnt) then thank you my Australian cousin.

But i've seen some ridiculous posts by most nationalities on this forum not just the Brits.

Wonderful news. I look forward to reading many more of your fine posts.

I'd be surprised if you hadn't.

Of course there will be aspects of culture that will appear embarrassing. I understand that is very simplistic to say that cultural differences are immune to critism and are independant of a behaviour scale for good/bad habits...but it is still relevant.

The vast majority of times that I see someone complaining about British posters it seems fairly clear to me that it is because they don't quite get that there is an almost inseperable degree of sarcasm that permeates everything that British people say and do...so much is tongue in cheek. Many people judge what we say on their own cultural tendancies, so it is obviously going to seem like we are up our own arses half the time. The original poster may even believe that Haye chickened out of the fights, but it is funnier to say that he out-manoeuvred them, or at least the reactions of the people that take it too seriously are.

However, I do admit that some people may find sarcastic behaviour annoying.

They don't have any good fighters so the few that they do have they have to pump them up on here. They are reduced to telling us that a Glass Jawed protected and coddled fraud like Amir Khan is actually going to be something on the World level. The same with Haye.

When I take this into consideration it does not bother me. They are a delusional bunch for sure. I usually just laugh at them. You have to remember just a few short months ago it seemed like every week one of their overhyped fighters was getting their Glass Jaw shattered on TV.

If it ever happens, Haye would certianly earn a larger sum. However, there are a number of HWs that are capable of defeating Haye before he ever sniffs a Klitschko brother. SO, Haye had better pave his path to the Klitschko's very carefully. Fortunately for him (or perhaps not), he has Don King working for him.

I like haye..I'd like to see him fight either Klittie...I think he has a good shot against Wlad but I think Vitali would beat him up with a jab....

to answer the thread question I think Haye DESERVES less than what he had been offered...I ALSO THINK THAT VITALI OR WLAD (JUST 1) HAS TO MAKE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN....THE KLITCHKOS ARE CONSIDERED THE BEST FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD AND THEY WONT FIGHT EACH OTHER...

THEY NEED TO KEEP FIGHTING THE #3 AND #4 GUYS IF THEY WONT FIGHT EACH OTHER THOUGH.....HAYE IS 3 IN MY BOOK AND VITALI HAS A FIGHT PLANNED AFTER TONIGHT..I HOPE HE WOULD FIGHT HAYE THOUGH I DONT BLAME HIM AT ALL IF HE DONT TAKE THAT FIGHT RIGHT AWAY-HAYE PLAYED A LOT OF BULL$HIT GAMES IN SCHEDULING THOSE FIGHTS AND THAN BACKING OUT!

    Wow.

Next time I start a light-hearted thread like this I'll be sure to mark it ''LIGHT-HEARTED THREAD'' across the top in big, bold letters just so that all those suffering from a sense of humour bypass will know to steer clear.......;)
