I don't think it's too far off, actually. Both are 'good' fighters but that's about it. The level of their competition leads to a very impressive record but the quality is sorely lacking. Chris John is another in this mould.

Domination can mean greatness or it can simply be a 'good' fighter beating 'average' opposition.

 

Pong fought guys with losing records or almost no record at all. He did not clean out his division. Wlad has cleared out his division and been a dominant champ while fighting the best available fighters, though the pool is limited especially as his title run goes on. He's not fighting guys who are 1-2, 1-3, 1-0-1 to defend his title. Of course a pure troll like Jack would argue otherwise.

 

He padded his record with those names. How many fighters has Wlad beaten who were as good as Naito, Hussein, Kameda or Sosa?

A padded record, certainly, but there was a fair bit of quality there too.

Length of reign is a qualifying factor in determining ATG status. It is terribly difficultt o do at a championship level.
