Its very simple for marquez, do the samething he did to juan diaz, only problem is hatton is a better pressure fighter then diaz, plus he has decent power....Marquez needs to keep this fight in the center on the ring, circle, box, and counter....pretty simple game-plan...if hatton gets inside a majority of the time...marquez will lose this fight, hatton will smother him to death, and marquez has zero inside game.....hatton has better footspeed then marquez as well, hell he even got inside on mayweather, and closed the gap on the speedster pacquiao, untill he got caught....I can def. see hatton fighting his fight more then marquez....

marquez just needs to circle, box, counter....repeat over and over...

Hatton peaked against Mayweather. Against Lazcano he looked like ****, and against Paulie, he outboxed him, but Paulie also fought lousy.

I dont know what to say about the Pacquiao fight. Hatton was knocked the **** out, but he basically showed all the same bad habits he always does.

There is simply a great deal for Marquez to exploit. Hatton's aggressiveness and poor defense plays right into Marquez's hands.

if juan diaz was able to get in & mug marq like he did, im sure ricky will give him a hell of fight as well. don't get me wrong, I could totally see marq picking him apart but lets not forget that JMM is pushing 37 & the fight will be at 140. its a 50/50 fight imo but im leaning more towards wicky.

Don't know.....but Hatton was smashed in a way that was very scary at the hands of PAC. But JMM was completely schooled by Floyd. Normally I'd go with JMM b/c lets face it.....Juan is by far a more complete and intelligent boxer, but he don't belong at 140. Hatton by Decision.

Agreed, I think hatton is getting a bit underrated on the forum after his 2 loses....he was overrated after he KO'D castillo, now he is underrated....hatton has problems with speed, southpaws, and defensive wizards....marquez is none of those....marquez does have the counter-punching going for him....I believe his chin has degraded, but I don't think its glass...prime hatton, ate shot after shot of tszyu's right hand, and many other fighters....untill mayweather broke him down...the lazcano fight he was coming off his first loss of his carear, and looked like **** overall...hatton's offensive arsenal did show improvement, but paulie, like you said was lousy...

I see at least early on, marquez having his hands full with hatton's style...in the diaz fight, diaz gassed himself out a bit, and marquez captialized....he had his success when he kept the pressure fighter in the middle of the ring....I have my doubts he can do that to hatton 7 out of 12 rounds....

The problem hatton has is his defense is eating punches with his face:lol:....that is what got him to the top was taking some to dish out a relentless attack...You just can't do that the older you get.....barrera made his carear last longer by a few defensive adjustments, gatti as well...hatton has shown he is a one trick pony, but he had success with that....

It's a close fight on paper imho....intangibles, I give the edge to marquez...his ring iq is way above hatton, and could be the difference...

Hatton @ 140 is the obvious choice really and im a JMM fan.

JMM is 36 and isnt the same fighter north of 135

    Surprised at the poll results.

hatton should stay the hell away from marquez! I like hatton and i don't wanna see this guy get smashed again - which will surely happen if he takes on JMM

marquez can adapt to just about all situations - except against floyd, i've never seen him fail to adapt.

hatton is a better pressure fighter than diaz, but not faster. Marquez will simply use ring generalship to outbox this guy and pick him apart.

Hatton would lose to all the good guys around welter/light welterweight. cotto would smash him, paul williams would smash him, margarhito would smash him (loaded gloves or not)

pressure fighter (HATTON) vs defensive fighter (MARQUEZ)

I could pick Hatton with this one, ONLY if Hatton has a descent defensive posture. Hatton could be eating uppercuts all night if this fight ever gets made.

Hatton wants a rematch with Void, so he hopes to do better against Marquez than Void did.

Floyd toyed with Marquez for 12 rounds. You actually think Hatton can do better? More realistic would be Marquez beats the living daylights out of Hatton...

Marquez isnt really a defensive fighter. Marquez is a boxer-counter puncher. He starts slow, looks for holes in his opponent, and then exploits them. He usually loses the first few rounds because he allows his opponent to attack him and get in a workmanlike effort. As the rounds progress he steps up his offense and gradually wears them down.

Marquez is defensive minded, he doesnt get hit all that much, but he isnt a defensive wizard. He is a master boxer-counter puncher, not boxer-defender

I don't think Ricky has much left so I would go with Marquez late round stoppage. Marquez is still one of the best fighters in the world. He got outclassed by Mayweather but who doesn't. Not long before that fight he was considered almost Pacquiaos equal and there were arguments as to who was P4P No.1. He hasn't suddenly got bad after one fight.

I think the weight may be a factor. Can Hatton still make 140 lbs or will the fight be made at a catchweight of 144 lb or 145 lbs. If so this may favour Hatton as Marquez is naturally a lot smaller. That said the two fights Ricky has had above 140 lbs he has not looked the same fighter. If it's in England and he is allowed to fight on the inside Marquez could find the early going difficult as he is a slow starter anyway. I would imagine that after 5 or 6 rounds Marquez would gradually start to take control of the action and the ref will have to jump in late on and stop Ricky from taking anymore punishment.

I would love to be wrong as I am a massive Hatton fan.
