Maybe in order to make this fight more competitive and more uncertain as to who is the favorite, Vitali could not train for it, at all, as Peter trains like a madman. With VK not training, at all, he is therefor not putting himself at any risk of injury, as well as making the fight more evenly matched by bringing himself down closer to Peter's skill level and conditioning. LOL But I think we all realize that the skill level of each fighter is very far apart on these two. Vitali is on another level, entirely, than Peter in skill and boxing ability, and footwork/movement. The power and chin are probably comparable, though. I think the only thing that may make this fight closer to being a competitive, and not a complete Danny Williams blowout, will be that Peter has been active for the past four years, and will fight again in July.......whereas Vitali has not fought since 2004 and will take Peter on, cold, as well as having underwent surgery two or three times since last being in the ring. If there is anything that may make the fight competitive, its that Vitali won't be able to get the rust blown off in the gym, and won't have his movement and reflexes honed yet, with Peter being very active and at the top of his game. If Vitali is overly rusty and lethargic, that will/may make the fight competitive (a rusty Vitali still may beat Peter, as he's that much better), but I think Vitali coming unprepared is a very slim chance, cause I see a very disciplined and professional athlete like Vitali who is always in impeccable condition, making sure he's fully ready, trained, has his ring rust removed (as much as can be in the gym) as well as being well sparred. So I see a beating coming Peter's way.
Sammy doens't have to knock Vitali out. All he has to do is stick that jab in his face all night. Vitali is not a great or even technically sound boxer. He does alot of things wrong like dropping his hands at his waist and stepping/leaning back instead of using lateral movement. He's very overrated on this forum. The only real thing Vitali has going for him is size. If he were an ordinary sized heavyweight he'd have been knocked out by now. His chin and height will keep him from getting knocked out most likely but he can still be outworked. And with his injuries, you know he isn't going to be learning how to avoid a jab anytime soon. Sam will make him look old.
It's amazing how highly rated this guy got for the fights he had. Lennox Lewis, whom he lost to, was not even preparing to fight him. He took Vitali on short notice, and at his age, still managed to cut Vitali up just flicking the jab in his face. Kirk Johnson was always a "in the middle" kinda guy who came in the fattest he has ever been in his career against Vitali. He clearly didn't want the win and didn't fight like he wanted it either. His looking terrible had little to do with Vitali and much to do with him being so fat he was off balance most of the time. Corrie Sanders was never anything more than a journeyman who had been knocked out before by Hasim Rahman in a wild slugout. Sanders had limited stamina, a very sporadic style with some speed and power. Lewis, Holyfield, let alone a prime Tyson, would have taken Sanders out in a matter of 4 rounds. It took a prime Vitali, after being rocked several times, 8 hard fought rounds to get Sanders out of there. Now I know Sammy isn't the most brilliant heavyweight out there. But let's be real here. Sammy has already faced the better brother. Vitali is not technically anywhere near Waldo. Vitali is just not that good, let alone years after his last performance. Sammy has already shown he can win a fight where he cannot depend on the knockout. He'll do just that against this overrated injury prone Klitschko..
I think people are putting too much faith in a guy who hasnt been in the ring in 4 years and has severe injury concerns. A lot depends on whether Sam can get a good camp going. If he comes in fat shape, He makes this fight 90% harder than it needs to be.
He fought like a robot when he was active - How will a robot fare with rust? I don't think very well.
im so sick of commenting about this fight. they should just schedule the fight without telling the public, let it happen, then report the results :yep i cant take anymore pullouts, delays or run-off elections
I have posted this before somewhere. I do not really understand how Vitali can focus on running a city and training for a Championship fight. Is he taking this lightly? Will he be in fighting shape? Peter will fight him. I think that Vitali is a little more emotional than Vlad, that saying will he fight smart. However from my own perspective for Peter to win, he will have to take a lot of punishment. Is Peter capable of fighting while he is getting beat up We know that Vitali is. I have never seen Peter busted up or hurt. Vlad just out boxed him held released and boxed him some more. Peter could only hit him in the back of the head it was very frustrating for him. In this fight he will get hit alot from the second round on.
Sam was really hurt by McCline who landed some thunder in that fight. Sam got off the canvas and won that fight by digging in and landing his jab. Sam has a really good jab when he uses it and that will be the key weapon here. If he could nail McCline who is 6'8 with that jab and the overhand right he will also land it on Vitali. Vitali does not know how to avoid jabs or right hands. Sam has proven he won't give up in a fight. He keeps on going. He has a fighter's heart and mentality. And as his game improves he's only going to become harder to beat. The Maskaev fight was more practice on avoiding big shots and he did well against Maskaev. What people overlook in the Maskaev fight is that Maskaev was never in the fight to begin with. Sam made Maskaev look as bad as most of us considered him to be. Vitali is a bit different but I think they know what to do there. Vitali likes to lean back to avoid punches and likes to use handspeed to land wild uppercuts and right hands inside of exchanges. Just like they did with Waldo he'll have to hold a high guard and maybe absorb some straight rights. But the punches will be there for him just like they were with Waldo because Vitali leans straight back. So all Sam has to do is keep his guard up and fire that jab at Vitali's chest when in range with full power. Force Vitali back and when he starts leaning back to avoid the jab start putting the right hand behind it.
Too long gone for us to know much about Vitali. Too many injuries before he went. that's too many intangibles to make much of a prediction on who takes this one, or even if it happens. BUT, if Vitali is anywhere near where he was against Sanders, Johnson or Lewis (big IF), look for a brutal destruction of poor Sam early in the fight !
Vitali is way over-rated on this siteatsch the best fighter he faced Lennox butched his grill to pieces and stopped him:deal he quit when the tough got going against pitty-patter Chris Byrd:-( and he hasn't fought in a very long time 2004:think and extremely injury prone, he's got height over Peter so what/? Sam has bulk, and muscle mass if they do fight AND THATS A """BIG IF""" Peter will stop him due to an injury probaly in the mid to late rounds, **** id rather see Wlado against Peter again, Wlad is and was a better talent than his robotic injury prone brother..
