Right now . . . I'm leaning on Peter via UD . . . for the simple reason that Vitali has been off the ring for so long and we're never quite sure what's his physical condition.

If Peter has enough brain . . . he'll drag this fight to the max and let Vitali tire out before making his move.

I hope Wladimir will fight Sam Peter to unify the belts. Vitali should stay retired he is too old. Sad but true. He will become Major of Kiew and do good political things. But he should step aside to let his brother unify.

Couldn't agree more, I think what Vitali has increasingly represented over the last year or so has been stagnation in the division.

Wlad has done a lot of hard work to come back from the Sanders and Brewster losses and get back into the limelight. Having big brother potentially stroll along and steal it all away from him would be galling.

This is what worries me: if Peter's Safari Punch hits the back of most boxers' heads, it might actually connect cleanly on the chin against someone as tall as Vitali. That said, Peter fights like a ******ed caveman; THAT said, Vitali is a creaky old robot.

I suspect Vitali will beat up Peter for a few rounds before getting headbutted in the ribs and getting stopped/quitting on his stool. :verysad

He's big, powerful (although his power is overrated) and his jab has improved, but he's also slow, tires easily, had no defensive skill of note, rabbit punches when he should uppercut, and has terrible footwork. Both Peter and Vitali are great examples of boxers who squander their tremendous natural abilities due to a lack of finesse.

That's three more than Sammy. Even if Herbie has no chin, Williams is mediocre, and Sanders/Johnson were tubs of lard, I'd bet on all of them to beat the shot Maskaev that Peter fought.

Vitali knocks Peter out ... Peter can't do anything better than Vitali, who's faster, stronger, and more skilled.

    Klitschko KO 5 Peter

I think Peter - Vitali is a very competitive fight. At this time I wouldn't bet on Vitali beating Peter. Vitali at his peak probably would have beaten Sam. But he is not that man today. Its a 50-50 fight, which makes it real interesting.

However I would bet on Wlad beating Peter at the moment.

Peter may well beat Vitali, setting up a rematch with Wlad.

Johnson KOed Maskaev faster than Peter did. Maskaev is the only decent fighter Peter has stopped and even then Maskaev was on his feet.

Vitali at his peak would have destroyed Peter in a brutal prolonged beatdown, a la Williams or Sanders.

Today? Who knows. If Vit Klit can come in at 80% of his peak, healthy, I think he wins a long fight, with Sammy very puffed up and bloody at the end.

I will believe this fight when I see it. Something tells me that Vitali will pull out (AGAIN). And if he does make it through camp then I think he will just get blown out by Peter anyways in a really ugly fight. I see Peter clubbing Vitali, who will have plenty of ring rust (and might be injured by the night of the fight if he made it through camp)

Exactly how I see it, it will be a slugfest early on, but by the mid rounds both men will be throwing one punch at a time. Peter will land more than most think, Vitali's reflexes will be almost shot from inactivity and old age, and Peter will land that clubbing right hand to floor Vitali, and finish him by the end of the round.

Vitali has a similar resume as Peter, James Toney is alot better win than Corrie Sanders or Kirk Johnson.
