Its common knowledge dip****. Ask Chef. Haye would of got around 1 million from Setanta, Wlad was getting HBO, German tv, gate reciepts and anything else. And do you know for a fact Haye wasnt legitimately injured? No, so stop talking nonsense.
actually CHEF has said that all Haye had to do was call Klitschko explain the situation and maybe a resolution could have been made like for example giving Haye a cut of the HBO money to keep the fight. Instead Haye disgracefully faked multiple injuries before they settled on a back injury. Haye has no Chin and no heart.
Because he wasn't injured and everyone knows that. He never even gave Team Klitschko proof of any injury. If Haye cared enough he could have at least asked Wlad if a resolution could be made the worst Klitschko could say was "No". But he didn't and took the easy way out of the fight.
I thought at first he should honor his contract, but doing that fight for free would have been stupid. He should have been honest though. I think adjustments could/would have been made. They lost the HBO money so that could have been a bargaining chip.
But you dont know that for sure do you. Booth said they sent medical documents to the Klitschko's saying he was fit to fight at the end of July. If it was down to the money, would Haye have got anywhere near the million he would of got from Setanta out of Wlad when Setanta was still up and running at that time, i think not. If Setanta had gone bust before the fight then yes there is a case for trying to sort something out with Wlad, but Setanta were still going at that point and he wouldnt of got a penny out of Wlad.
And you don't know that is true for sure do you? Last I heard, Wald was still saying his camp was NEVER provided documentation as to the injury.
CHEF is part of Wald's team and last I knew, he said they never got the paper work from Haye. CHEF seems like a straight up guy and I have no reason to doubt him. Lacking the medical report doesn't mean he wasn't injured, but it sure makes it LOOK like money was the reason. Again, not too many people blame him for not wanting to fight for free, but they/we do blame him about not being honest and at least asking for a resolution with Wald's camp.
Fair point, and if i had to put money on it i would say he had a slight back injury but money was the real reason for the pull out. Chef is an honest guy, but who knows if Klitschko tells him everything. It just gets my back up when people say he should fight for nothing, nobody would get in the ring with Wlad for nothing.
It's pretty obvious it was the money situation-and frankly it's understandable-the man's got to eat too.
Haye has fought injured in the past (most boxers do, so I'm not suggesting he's a hero for that). He doesn't duck anyone - whether he should or not - and there's a big runour around the sports desks at UK papers that this was the reason he puled out. I believe it - esp given the stupid deal he agreed to with the Klitschkos. Explains why WK didn't really belittle him about pulling out. Right now, I want to see a little bit of a tournament, involving Wlad, Povetkin, Haye, Chambers. Seems to make sense. Winners of that will make the era appear stronger, if nothing else. Arreola, Vitali, Ruiz and Big B*stard can sort out the other half of the picture.
If he did because of Setanta I don't blame him, why risk his career/life if he's not getting paid?. In the end it's all about money, this is their job.
I believed from the beginning that Haye's injury was fabricated. First, I thought Haye and his coaches were having a confidence crisis and they needed more time to prepare for Vlad. Later, when I heard about Setanta's troubles, I realized that Haye was pulling out because he feared that he wouldn't get paid. I applaud Haye for withdrawing from this fight. A devastating loss to Vlad could set back Haye's career indefinitely. At the very least, Haye should have been assured of a huge payday from Setanta. Haye was entitled to big bucks. Setanta is really to blame for this fight falling through.
I'm sure it was because of money. I'm sure that he really wants to be Heavyweight Champion just like any fighter was to be the man, the Champion of a weight class, but do risk losing AND you get no money for your efforts I wouldn't and Haye or any other fighter shouldn't either.
