Now that the adrenaline is gone, lets have a sensible/realistic look at bjs and cej

okay, the dust has settled, the talk is over, the fight is over. reality has set in.
so i sat down this afternoon with a nice cup of black coffee and rewatched the fight. i ignored the names of the fighters and just looked at the fight.
lets start off with the good. both showed great heart, determination and will. both seemed to be able to go 12 hard rounds. both have proven that they are at least on the fringes of world level.
bjs showed that he is indeed a light puncher, but a very cute boxer. he knows how to control the ring, the positioning and how to get in sneaky shots. top that off with a hard chin and you have a solid contender.

cej showed great athletic ability, a solid chin, a good punch and heart.

on the down side: neither looked like a world beater. forget about the domestic scene. look at the world stage.
what sets these two apart from the other "prospects/contenders" of the devision.

cej has some power.......but nothing like golovkin or even david lemieux. his lack of classic boxing skill will get him into trouble when his athletic ability will not be enough. his awkward style is fun to watch, but his lack of amateur schooling and horrible pro opposition has him making clumsy mistakes and looking amateurish. and the problem is, getting rid of these fundamental mistakes is going to be very hard for a 25 year old. this stuff you learn when you are a child/teenager.

bjs is a nice cutie in the ring, but his lack of power will hurt him at world level. plus even if he has success, most casual boxing fans wont like his style. he just isnt exciting. he will have the backing of the purists .....but if you want to be a real star, you need the general public.

bottom line: i think both are fringes of world level, but i think the middleweight devision has more talented prospects than these two. neither eubank jr nor bjs will have a huge impact on this devision. but they will provide alot of fun and excitement.
