Now that the Jones fight is presumably off, who will Hopkins fight now?

Im just saying Roy made a mistake early with a power puncher, and before he was warmed up he lost. I mean the guy is 40. It must take him a round or 2 to get loose, which is why he was jabbing and boxing. Green did a great job cutting off the ring, and then landed off a Roy miss just like Tarver did.

This fight showed RJJ's reflexes obviously aren't what they used to be, that he's a slow starter in old age, and that he needs to adapt his defense... Against a defensive fighter lke Hopkins with so much on the line.. that is the way Roy should go out...

Not in Aussie-Land, fighting an opponent no one will remember (no disrespect to Green, I like the guy).

I agree although in this case their names are already at levels where the fight would probably sell a little. When Hearns and Leonard fought in 1989 there were guys like Michael Nunn who were champs, and Hearns and Leonard were the older guys and still Tommy and Ray were bigger names so the fights sold. Although Roy will have a hard time explaining this fight after losing to Calzaghe easily not too long ago, and then the other knockouts.

And the losses are really adding up now though. We can make excuses but he has 6 losses now (I incorrectly said 5 in another post) and hoping Roy warms up to win a fight is not really saying he is any good now.

Please, Jones would have sooner or later stayed on the ropes for half a round to try and counter Green, like he's been doing lately.
I have no doubt in my mind that strategy would have been useless against Green.

I doubt Hopkins will face him now. I wouldn't even want to watch that after what just happened. I know people would give Hopkins hell if he was to fight roy still .

Nobody. If Dawson or Adamek wasn't a big enough name for him before, they sure as hell wouldn't be now. Now that Adamek doesn't have a CW title, that fight is no longer attractive to Hops. Haye will be tied up with mandatories for the next year. Dawson still doesn't bring in big money, and he risks losing his legacy if he faces Dawson (who I think would win close but clear). Nobody else in LHW brings enough money for it to be worth it. None of the cruiserweight titlists have a name in the US. None of the heavyweight titlists are chumps.

Hey, what about Lucian Bute? :hey

That would generate a lot of money AND interest. But i think Bute is too good for Hopkins right now.

    Dawson or Green.

Hopkins will box on next year. Bernard is not the type of individual to underestimate an opponent, so I expect him to take Orneleus out, beat him comprehensively!

He's 45 in January so maybe he will reason with himself & decide to call it a day, but I can't see it. Hopkins has stated he has big plans for 2010, which he has said, will be his FINAL year boxing, so he will carry on!

You never know, the Jones rematch might still happen, stranger things have happened in Boxing, but it does look highly unlikely, & the reward for Jones & Hopkins is now nowhere the amount that was the case before Green KO'd Jones.

Maybe Hopkins will go after Green to just prove a point? Hopkins in Australia, down under, that would be a laugh! LOL

Its not like he didnt know Jones was shot before hand. This fight was more personal than anything.

We'll wait for his post fight comments today, but im pretty sure this changes nothing but purse splits.

If Jones chooses to continue, of course.

We all know who it won't be and that's Dawson.
