Witter's numerous flaws were evident tonight. He holds his head up to high, Leaves his arm out to long and to high, Can't adjust, Low punch output, Got wore down by jabs and rights to the body, Got wore down in clinches, Cut easily, People will still fall back on the argument that his style beats Hattons. People have been real fickle after Hattons loss to the p4p no1, Witter lost to a fighter who apparantly hasn't fought in the top 50 of his division, lets get things into perspective.
Close fight but Bradley defo won. Feel gutted as Witter Is one of my favourites and he's been better but damn he got outworked. Maybe Bradley was right, he focused too much on Hatton which will never happen now. Witter's been wasted and left out too much.
When Witter held the Commonwealth title Ajose Olusegun the African Boxing Union Champion was the manadatory contender and try very hard as we did to make the contest Witter would not take the bait even after insulting him and questioning his fortitude. In the end he vacated and rather fought clowns like Colin Lynes. He could have fought us tonight when Demetrius Hopkins pulled out but no and get exposed by Timothy Bradley of all the people.
I'm gutted that Witter lost. But I'm not going to suddenly start liking Hatton. It doesn't change the fact that he ducked Witter for 7 years and intended to keep ducking him. I do feel that in a funny was the fight is more likely to happen now though.
Witter was working his way to earning a shot at a world title. Ajose Is too happy to be left In the dark staying with Maloney, maybe he should leave Maloney like Munyai and go elsewhere to step up and show he's worthy enough because he looked awful against Reid and Wright. Lynes Is European champ, the EBU has more value than the ABU. Lynes would give Wright a boxing lesson and the jab Is Ajose's weakness.
SleazeNation you are by far the worst and most bias poster i have ever seen on these boards Just tell me this- how did Collazo and Urango deserve fights with Hatton AHEAD over Witter? Just answer me that, because you say he 'never deserved a shot at Hatton' And this isn't anything to do with my dislike for Hatton, its just a general observation
He wanted to fight Mayweather, and Collazo was a welterweight world champion... That one made sense. Urango was a world champion who had entertaining fights, I doubt Hatton and HBO wanted to scare viewers away with a boring Witter horror show. I don't know, I'm speculating.
Both served a purpose that Witter could not offer Hatton. Collazo is obvious. Hatton wanted a fight against Maywathe at 147lbs, so the idea from HBO was to give him a warm-up fight aganst a good, 147lb opponent who he should beat clearly. Urango was a promotional tactic used to hype Hatton/Castillo. It was meant to be a good figh but one where Hatton would clearly win, setting up a massive Castillo fight, who was also expected to breeze past Ngoudjo. I'm not saying that Witter has never deserved a chance, by the way. I think he did at one point. Although I think Hatton not fighting Witter goes well beyond him not deserving it or Hatton ducking or anything like that. I'm sure only those tight with either man know how intense the feud is.
All this crowing from the Hatton fans about how Witter never deserved a fight with Ricky doesnt wash with me. All that happened last night was thet age finally caught up with Witter. Junior looked old & weight drained, had no snap in his punches & was gassed after four rounds. Quite simply, Witter aged overnight. It happens to most boxers once they reach their mid 30's, especilly at the lower weights as weight making becomes such a problem as the years advance & the metabolism slows down. So Hatton dodged Witter for so long that Witter finally got too old & got beat. Yeah well done Hatton. you ceratinly showed him didnt you:-( That Bradley guy wasnt up to much I thought, & wont hold his title for long. Witter would have had him for breakfast a couple of years ago. However, Witter seemed old in that fight tonight, & it was sad to watch, especially knowing that the Hatton huggers were going to leap on it as if Ricky would hve beaten a prime Witter. Im feeling very sad for Witter just now, that its turned out this way. Hattons hype has always overshadowed a very good career. Shame Witter never got the chance to shut Hatton up, but sometimes life simply isnt fair. meanwhile Ricky will beat a blown up past his best lightweight, & the hypes going to build all over again... Yup, life certainly aint fair.
He didn't duck him for seven years. Hatton wated the fight and called Witter out numerous times. The person who stopped the fight happening back then was Frank Warren. Since leaving Warren, Hatton has gone on to bigger and better things than Witter could ever offer. When both men were calling each other out, Warren got in the way.
How come Witter had no snap in his punches and was gassed after four rounds against Lynes and Kotelnik? :? He didn't age overnight, he did what he always did.
So basically neither of you are saying that they deserved shots ahead of Witter but business wise they were the best fights for Hatton. I can deal with that, because boxing is a businesss which isn't fair most the time And in view of the theories that Hatton lost to Collazo and looked terriblely ordinary against Urango im suprised that anyone backed Hatton to best PBF In all seriousness, Hattons about business, making the money and getting out seems like his main focus now. If the money isn't in a Witter fight i can understand why he wouldnt take it...its the lying and bull**** that he comes out with to try and impress Joe Soap whos reads the sports pages of the paper that annoys me behond all limits I'd still prefer Hatton v Witter ahead of the Lucozade fight on 24th May
