Now we know why Dawson is not fighting at 168...

    ...lack of power.

He doesn't have much power at 175 (he probably comes in at around 174 on the night).

At 168, he would probably come in no heavier than 172 tops, I would guess.

If he doesn't have much power at 175, he would have less at 168 than the top SMWs, who also happen to be damn big too...

Calzaghe, Kessler, Bute come in at 182-184...they would outweigh him by 10 pounds or so at 168. His power wouldn't do much to them, but they would hurt his less than very good chin. Slow him down in the mid rounds and take advantage - Calzaghe and Kessler for sure.

At 175, they would all beat him, I think...including Bute. All three would come in as high as 190...they would outweigh Bad Chad by 15 lbs!!!

Bang...all would get him out of there, I'm pretty confident of that.

Dawson will never get to fight Calzaghe, but he won't agree to fight Bute or Kessler at 175...and Kessler at 168. At 168 against Bute...he might be the slight favourite...but that's it.

Dawson's defence can get a lot better; he can also learn to be more disciplined and to fight a more intelligent fight strategically. But his chin...well...you cannot improve your chin, really.

If only he had a very good chin, even if he didn't have more power than he has now...:think

    Do you agree?

Disagree. He still at 175 what do you mean he would have less power at 168? They are called light heavies for a reason.:deal Adamek probably weighed as much or more than Kessler or Bute in his fight with Dawson on fight night. IMO if Dawson moved down to 168 he would be even better and so would his power.

Why would his power be better at 168 than at 175?:huh

He never hurt Adamek with his power.;)

Is it time that Pavlik looked ****?

America's boxing superstar(lets) are currently on a mission and are intent on avoiding Joe Calzaghe at all costs. I can only draw this conclusion after Dawson's latest performance.

Jeff Lacy, the young undefeated hoodlum came barnstorming across the Atlantic only to be humiliated so America had to find another contender. Thrust forward was Jermain Taylor, the undisputed Middleweight champion of the world - the man who dethroned the great Bernard Hopkins. A potential fight with Calzaghe was almost a done deal if he got by Pavlik. He dropped Kelly early but then realised that his next fight would be against JC if he finished the job and we all know what happened next.

So then it was Chad Dawson who would be the guy... the man, bigger, just as fast, strong and tall. Chad was very professional about the way he negotiated himself out of a fight with Joe. He made himself look very ordinary but still won the fight. A narrow escape but one that pretty much rules him out of a matchup he knows he can't win.

The list of potential suiters for Calzaghe (should be beat BHop) is dwindling by the day. They're all eliminating themselves out of the fight as they don't want to be in the list with Lacy, Kessler et al to suffer. So my question is this: Will Kelly Pavlik take a dive against Gary Lockett?

Tell you what you dont know what the hell you are talking about! and while the Dawson train may have lost steam after last nights performance he still kicks Bute, Kessler and Calzaghe's ass at 175...if and when any one of these Hype jobs grows the balls to fight Dawson I will bet you a lifetime Ban on this forum he kicks their ass.

Everyone seems to lack power when it is going up against Glen Johnson's dome. He has above average power and showed last night he was a great body puncher.

I disagree, particularly with the second statement.

Adamek was tagged all night...and Dawson sure did look as if he was hitting him hard...but he wasn't really, I don't think.

I don't think Dawson has world-class power. However, given his speed, precision and workrate, he does hurt opponents.

Great body puncher, yeah...but disagree about the power bit.

:rofl Got himself brutally Ko'd to avoid big bad Joe. Also Clinton Woods didn't try last night because the Calzaghe deal was done if he had won.

    "Do you agree?"

Tinkerbell, I agree you are clearly and singularly the biggest dumb**** on ESB.

    Bar none.

Dawson will put Calslappy, Kessler, & Bute to SLEEP.

Sure Adamek was hurt, but not massively. Adamek could and should of TKO'd him in the 10th.

Not massively...given the speed, precision and workrate of Dawson's punches to the body, if he had had world class power, he would have stopped everyone, including Adamek by round 7-8.

I'm not saying he isn't an effective puncher; I'm saying he doesn't have B level punching power...more like C+ or B-, I think.
