I DONT THINK MASQUEV IS ANYTHING SPECIAL BUT I SAID IT B4 AND ILL SAY IT AGAIN.....SAM PETER IS NOT THE NEW MIKE TYSON NOR THE NEW RAY MERCER.....I THINK MASQUEV WOULD STOP PETER....:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke
I've said Oleg would outpoint Peter all along, and I'm now even more sure of it. After McCline did what he did to Peter, I now bet that ALL of the top ten fighters are probably all eager to get a piece of Peter, cause Peter's aura his now been thoroughly deflated. I bet noone fears him, now. His KO destroyer personna was disproved against Wlad and Toney, and now, it has been completely squashed after the McCline fight......... Oleg's confidence for his upcoming Peter fight must now be surging.......
I thought Oleg was going to win months ago and I still think so. The Peter myth, as stated above, has been debunked. There is not a heavyweight on the planet that is afraid of him.
If McCline could beat the **** out of Peter like that, Oleg would utilize his signature out-of-the-ring knockout for sure, and early I bet.
I think we got some questions answered on Peter last night. Some were good, others were bad. The good: Peter proved he can get up and win. Not all fighters can do this. What is lost in the fight was Peter's will to win and stamina was there for the full 12 rounds. He hurt McCline a few times too with shots to the head and body. McCline is not a bad heavyweight. McCline was near even with Brock and Byrd. If you take away the rounds with the knockdowns, Peter pretty much dominated the action. The bad: We thought Peter had a great chin. McCline showed us it is not great. It looks to be only good. Future opponents of Peter now know he can be hit and hurt with uppercuts. In the end, my opinion on Peter is only slightly diminished. As they say in boxing youre only as good as your last fight. Peter wasn't great last night, but he got the " W'" and became a champion. If Peter really wants it, he enters the ring in the high 230s to low 240s.
if Jameel DeCline can put Peter down three times I'mn sure Maskaev would have had him tasting the canvas too.
Maskaev is not 6' 6"...he has nowhere near the handspeed and athleticism of McCline...and his chin has been proven to be glass...so how the hell does the McCline fight put Maskaev on even terms with Peter all of a sudden?
I feel the same way. I never thought all that much about Peter to begin with, but I also have a low opinion of Oleg. Maskaev has all of the tools to have been a good boxer at some point, but now he's 38, going on 39, and damaged. It's too bad he has had such bad management and trainers thoughout his career. At least he won a trinket, but IMO he's one of those guys that will be plagued by thoughts of what could have been once he retires.
peter no doubt about it...mcCline isnt Maskaev. he was not perceived to have a big punch nor the abilty to hurt peter...but maskeav can hit hard and becuase of that peter might fight back harder than most
