You're talking about 2 completely different fights. You're also assuming that Joe would have tried unloading hundreds of punches per round. But we don't know he'd have done that. How do we know he wouldn't have been more cautious than what we were used to seeing?
It's self explanatory why he fought the likes of Rodriguez and Smith when he did. When he did move up to LHW, he certainly didn't have to fight the most feared man at the weight.
Froch was a better win for Ward than Kessler. Although both were elite wins, Froch he outclassed better, and Froch went onto show he was better than Kessler. So Wards best win, Froch, is a guy Cowardzaghe ran in gibbering fear from making a mando against. Wards first ever title fight Kessler, was Cowardzghes ultimate win culmination of his entire career.
I'm upset that the fight was stopped in that manner. But although low, that last shot wasn't a deliberate Golota-Bowe like low blow, and the other shots that came before the last one, definitely weren't low in my opinion. I've watched them numerous times due to the conflict it caused on here. I seriously don't see anything wrong with them. And by the time that last one was delivered, Kovalev had already quit mentally. It was an unsatisfactory ending to a fight, but he had nothing left to give at that point.
Deliberate or not, that's what ended the fight. That's Ward's "big" win. A terrible missed call from the ref on a fight ending low blow.
no way. Though I stress its marginal difference. Now - since i Stress its a marginal difference, how can it be a garbage post, considering you believe the reverse? my truth is close to yours. In fact if its marginal then its surely close to what YOU believe...its close to the reverse. In effect YOU are saying something close to YOUR OWN BELIEF being garbage. nice one, self destruction imminent there.
The referee ended the fight. We can't say that the last blow is why Kovalev lost. It wasn't even that low, and again, he was already done at that point, due to a succession of other blows that came prior to that which weren't low. Ward was in complete control at that point, and the referee's call actually robbed Ward of a clear victory. You could see Kovalev's body language, his demeanour, he was finished. I can understand your frustration, but you're implying that Ward was gifted a win. I don't see it like that at all. If that last blow had been slightly higher, the fight would still have been called off, because he was bent over spent, with nothing being returned.
The truth is, we don't now how Kov would have reacted had it not been low. Another truth is, Ward DID win via a low blow that the ref missed. Can't change those facts with rationalizing or 'woulda, coulda'. Certainly at that point, Ward looked to be on his way to winning. But you can't ignore particular circumstances because a guy 'was on his way to winning'. My 2 cents on it.
That's fair, and it's a damn shame. But I just don't like how lots of fans are claiming that Ward deliberately cheated and was gifted a win, along with the added belief that Kovalev would have beaten him had the ref not stopped it. He was bent over taking unanswered shots, and in my honest opinion, his body language was telling the referee to stop it. Again, if that last punch had been higher, Bayliss would still have stopped the fight. That seems absolutely obvious to me. I don't have any real issue with your opinion, and you know that I think you're a great poster.
