Joe's work rate and timing, reflexes, would beat Ward. prime for prime....Ward loses. "throwing punches non stop"....I take to mean a high work volume......does win fights. How many fights did Joe win? Work rate had a strong influence in that. WWE rules should not apply here.
Reid, Bika and Bernard share something in common in their fights against Joe. Let me think...........THEY LOST. The question is who would win in a Joe versus Ward matchup. Fantasy matchups rely on opinions and as stated earlier facts. Fact is Joe never lost. Bernard went into the fight saying he was going to win and a lot of other really silly things....losing after all of that.....made him look silly....imo.
Ward is a dirty fighter and not in Joe's class. No opinions will be changed but the topic of Ward winning would be better addressed in a 'Rassling" forum.

Yes, Reid, Bika and Bernard lost. But many people think that Reid and Bernard should have least gotten a draw. The point is: Joe scraped over the line and he had 3 very tough fights. He didn't make any of those guys look silly. That's a fact. Another fact is that Joe never made an elite fighter look silly in his entire career. Yet you believe he'd have made Andre look silly? No. It's laughable. It would have been an extremely difficult fight for both guys. That much is obvious.

I'm not bothered that Joe never lost. That doesn't sway my opinion one bit. I'm looking at the styles of both guys and who they both fought and at what period. Andre's never lost either. And I'm sure many great fighters could have gone 46-0 against Joe's competition. He wasn't unbeatable just because he retired unbeaten.

True. Anybody can be beaten. Many have close fights. Many think Kov won the first fight. Record books are record books. Depends on what mean by the phrase "elite." Some were saying Jeff Lacy was elite. When one gets to certain heights and fights with champions.....that is and is not elite sometimes. Few ever get there. many do become champions now that perhaps should not be. i don't think Ward is a bum....but I don't think much of him in or out of the ring. My preferences. I believe Joe would have made him look silly in the same way he dominated lacy. We will never know. People can argue about the finer points of fantasy matchups for eternity. Opinions on them probably never change.

only a nut thinks that a guy who gets beaten up by 40somethngs is elite.

why anyone would want to use the view of a nut as evidence for an argument is beyond me.

Never realized there were so many Ward haters out there. Both Ward and Kovalev would have beaten Calzaghe. We saw the trouble Calzaghe had with a geriatric Hopkins, and Joe needed a gift decision to win that fight. What the hell was he going to be able to do with Ward or Kovalev. smh

    Jeff Lacy was never elite.

You're entitled to your opinion. If you think Joe would have clowned him, that's cool. It's up to you. All I'm saying is, there is zero evidence to support that theory. Zero. A guy who was good enough to have made Andre Ward look silly, would not have scraped wins over the likes of Hopkins and Reid.

Personally, I think your opinion stems from your obvious dislike of Andre.

Your opinion is based on emotion rather than logic.

If Ward can lose rounds to someone as stick and move, jab-wise, as Kovalev (good as he is), he'd lose handily to Calzaghe. Absolutely no doubt in my mind about that.

If Calzaghe can barely beat 43 year old Hopkins then he'd lose by near shut out to Ward.

Ward is more like Hopkins than Kovalev is like Calzaghe. Hopkins only lost because his athleticism and conditioning had deteriorated , yet he still won for some people and the correct result should have been a draw.

Joe took his gift and ran away even when Hop offered to go to Whales for the rematch. Ward took his immediate rematch with Kovalev because he wanted to eliminate any doubts over the result of the first fight.
These two were a different breed. Skills pay the bills and Ward skills were superior to Joe's.
The Hopkins and Kessler fights proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt

    Where's Whales?

But YOU DO KNOW and I know you do that Hopkins had the chance to fight Calzaghe when he was the 160lb champion but pulled out after the talks where all but signed because he suddenly wanted more money.

whats wrong with wanting more money to offset a chance of a 3 fight deal for millions for oscar?

i dont see you raving for joe to fight froch instead of running away for his exhibition with jones.

I'm a Calzaghe fan but Ward would beat him pretty easily imo.
