Mayweather-Canelo had like a 10 city tour. At minimum, Pac and Floyd should have hit up NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and the Philippines.
You didn't make a point. You said "now y'all understand", which implies you're going to make a point. Is the fight not selling? Is it not garnering enough attention? Do people not know about it?
They had the 10 city tour for Mayweather Canelo because people didn't know too much about Canelo. Everyone knows who Mayweather and Pacquiao are. All they need to do is let people know they're fighting. But I do believe this fight should have had more promotion. TMT botched this one.
If they didn't know who Canelo was, the fight wouldn't have done the numbers that it did. Promotion helps.
the fight doesnt need more promotion....espn has been all over it...both networks did their little shows....floyd and manny have been on other networks doing interviews and there is still almost 2 weeks ago...the fight has been promoted just fine
I didn't say anything about cities. Showtime and HBO have been promoting the fight, ESPN has been selling the fight. There's a commercial, they've done interviews, there's ads and billboards. The only thing missing is the tour really....
So you think this will do less than canelo mayweather? Every single hardcore, casual fan and pretty much everyone who has even heard of the sport knows mayweather and pacquiao are fighting, a 10 city tour would not have reached anyone new or convinced them to buy the fight.
We wont know for sure until the numbers of the fight roll out. They are talking it doing 3 million ppv buys, I can say all my people are talking about the fight. I always host ppv party's and I know of two others that are doing their own. Fight is less then two weeks out, if the fight is flop I'll be here right with you to call it as I see it.
When Floyd is expected to make 180 million and Pac 80 million, spending unnecessary money on a press tour for a fight that sells itself is not smart business. Less Expenses = More Profits
There was no need for a tour. You have to be living under a rock not to know that this fight is happening. It has been on every major news channel for the past 8 weeks. Basically you have to be living somewhere without internet or basic cable to not know about this fight. People at my work who don't watch not only Boxing but don't watch sports period know about this fight.
Basically this. I'm convinced that there are a lot of people that are hermits still living in the basement. This fight is as mainstream as it can get. The LA Times literally runs a piece every day. ESPN talks about it every day. The world knows that this fight is happening.
Floyd should have made a big fuss over promotion I think having Pacquiao and/or Roach travelling would have affected their training camp more than Floyd.
