****en mosley had about a second to land that **** and he did....now i dont wanna wake up a sleeping giant, but with chavez having about 6 seconds left, he probably would've killed meldrick, or left him even worse ....sad but true

AND BIG UPS TO MOSLEY :bbb :happy

Wrong, by the time Chavez would have gotten across the ring, the bell would have possibly rung. Great work on Mosley's part. Mayorga has lost to the fab three.

bro, chavez was only a couple of feet away from him...mosley was about in the middle of the ring

meldrick got dropped at 16sec, if he would've been able to continue, it would've been at 8sec, or 6...thats alot of ****en time bro...

there was between 4-5 seconds left. I'm sick to death of people saying there were 2 seconds left. After the endless discussions you'd think people would be in agreement on the time by now.

Agree with everything here. Thanks, Freddy-wak.

As bad as Meldrick is, he could be a lot worse if Chavez landed one more clean shot.

    Big ups to Sugar Shane.

I've always believed that the fight was justifiably stopped. Taylor looked away from Steele and didn't respond when asked, "are you okay?" And even if that hadn't happened, the referee is obligated to stop the fight at the moment when he deems one fighter unable to continue. It doesn't matter how much time is left on the clock; it would be unjust to let a beaten fighter take any more punishment at a certain point. Judging by how badly off Meldrick Taylor was after the fight ended, I'd say that it was a fair decision.

the punch landed right at 17 and by 16 he was on his ass....if he would've been able to continue and say "yes" how he has to, there would've been anywhere from 6-8 seconds left......you do the math

Maybe Mayorga is thinking this tonight while staring down at his drink in a room full of cigarette smoke.

I don't think there was a boxing fan tonight who was not thinking of the Taylor/Chavez fight tonight. I'm good with both decisions. That's what refs are for.

Steele said in the HBO Memorable Nights series that Chavez was landing punches that could break bones. I'll never second guess that stoppage.

As for this one, Mosley turned a pedestrian fight into a memorable one in one second. For that you gotta tip your hat to him.

Since the bell appeared to ring BEFORE he waved it off, I think it's bull****. Mayorga should have been given the chance to beat the count, and go to the cards. Maybe he would have, maybe he wouldnt have. We'll never know.

For Taylor Chavez the official time the fight was stopped was 2:58 of the 12th round. Regardless, Taylor was still holding on to the ropes after the count and didnt know where he was at. Chavez had 2 seconds to land another right hand, thank god he didnt.

I really thought there was about 6 seconds, but he was looking and trying to listen to his stupid corner yelling. This distracted him and he was counted out. Chavez had to be in the neutral corner and by the time he would have come across being tired as Meldrick, I believe the bell would have rung. I guess we will never know. Knowing how Meldrick fights, he possibly would have tried to charge at Chavez. Just sorry about Meldrick's condition today. He and Norris should have box more and slugged less.

Unlike Mayorga, Meldrick was on his feet, and he could've continued without having Chavez hands on him at all, and he would've WON.
