I don't like this. Both fighters should wear the same style and make of gloves so that no advantage no matter how small can be gained.

Agreed Amir needs to ditch the Reeboks. He's a world champion now...get a decent pair of gloves.

That's just the way to get NO advantage. If both fighters can choose the best gloves for their style/strength, that's perfect right.
I've seen a lot of "champions" enforce pillows on their opponent because he is/was a powerful puncher and they weren't, or the other way round. Now that's creating an advantage.

I'm actually quite pleased with this. Maidana's rough-house tactics won't go unnoticed.

And in regards to Khan's Reebok gloves, him wearing the 10-ounce ones since the Prescott defeat, have served him well. I mean look at the size of them! I bet they go a long way in protecting them whiskers:

Unlike the moderate size of these:

Then what do you do when one fighter prefers a certain make, and other prefers something else? How do you settle that? If both fighters are comfortable with what they themselves and their opponents are wearing, then I don't see no problem.

The Reebok gloves are bigger like the Grant gloves are so it will help protect Khan's fragile Glass Jaw. He throws pitter pat punches also which help with bigger gloves.

I don't have a problem with the Gloves he uses.

It won't matter. Both have got equal advantages, if not, Khan has more.

Joe Cortez.. Well we all know, he doesn't like rabbit punches. I have a feeling that a disqualification will be on hand, as I had stated a couple months back.

This referee was chosen for a reason, and that was one of the sole purposes. He won't let Maidana fight on the inside, which is a plus for Khan.

Also, the 8oz gloves were also chosen. I'm 100% sure Maidana would have accepted 10oz, but it wasn't Maidana's camp who chose it. More so, Roach instead.

Roach knows, regardless of what glove size MAIDANA wears, he can still knock Khan the f out.

They plan to Jab, and jab alot, and then eventually start opening up on Maidana.

If anyone noticed, Maidana had his first cut in his last fight, and he got real and I mean real frustrated by it, and it was so small.

8oz Gloves will cut up the Skin, and I think that was Roach's idea of it. not only that, but Khan will have better power, which Maidana will have to respect.

So really, you can see the advantages are clearly on Khan's side. Very very smart move by Khan's Team. I expected this to be honest.

Yep, I agree with you Rico, on the Cortez situation, but it could lead to a bad and controversial night, as he (Maidana) could well get disqualified.

The Glove thing won't matter. It'll benefit Khan much more, as I addressed the issue above.

To me each fighter should be able to choose what brand of gloves they use as long as they are approved by the commission. :good

Good point, Laz. I think Roach and Khan are expecting the 8-ounce gloves to benefit them. They'll be small and compact, enhancing their ability to spray quick shots through the middle where Maidana's most vulnerable with his looping attacks.

I really hope Cortez doesn't drag Maidana back to the center of the ring every time he gets close to Khan.

khan has been working on strenght and power, he plans to hurt maidana and knock him out, if it goes 12 rounds then ok, but the plan is to cut him up then brake him down. the 8 ounce gloves make all this easier to do.
