Kovalev was done, he got hurt and was looking for a way out, it's a shame and as a fan I'm disappointed but it is what it is.

 

There was no controversey. Kov was so angry that he was supposed to stomp all over Ward according to his fans and Ward won. No controversey.

What a brave warrior kovalev, he fakes like noone when he's hitten. I was impressed. No, really, I'd have never said that kovalev was such a ****. I had more respect for him, he proved me completely wrong, weeks should have left ward hit him until ko, and take a wonderfull picture of him on the canvas. This faker ***** deserves that picture.

 

I'm sorry but the die hard Kovalev fans are acting just as bad as the Pacquiao fans after the Floyd fight.. That's embarrassing for you guys.

 

Kovalev had a defeatist body language throughout the fight I must say, I hate to admit it because I think I made fun of Pimp for this but he was right. Similar to Walters I'd say even. And it's not something I'd have ever expected of Kovalev but I guess he just falls into that "bully" type of fighter who can't REALLY handle pressure. And I'm not trying to throw Kovalev under the bus now that he lost, still a big fan, but you have to be realistic about these things.

Kovalev was just leaning over everytime he got hit with anything even remotely borderline, facing away from the opponent, doing these strange pauses and had a generally uncomfortable look on his face throughout. I get that he got fouled a few times but it wasn't really THAT bad compared to what you get in some other fights and a more mentally tough fighter just sucks it up, save complaints for later or heck just foul back.

Compared to most folks on here, I was a "neutral". I am not a rabid fan of either nor am I a huge detractor. And, I have a high level of respect for the abilities of both. With that context, the best fighter won that fight in a dramatic and decisive way. My biggest takeaway from the fight is that Ward's ring IQ is about three times that of Kovalev. That's the real reason that he won. It's simple: Ward had a superior plan and he executed in a superior manner.
