I can't even begin to imagine what would happen if Canelo were to beat Triple G on something controversial like this. I mean it's truly scary to think about what this board would be like. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we really don't need to have Canelo vs Triple G end in controversey. If something like this happened on September 16th and Canelo won with a low blow or something, I mean wow just imagine the whining from the Triple G fans. What I will say is that both Canelo and Triple G seem to be much more respectful of each other than say Kovalev was with Ward. So there actually seems to be more bad blood between Ward and Kovalev than Canelo vs triple G, even though the fanbases of Canelo and Triple G, at least on here, do seem to be more heated. So I'm hopeful that both Canelo and Triple G won't resort to low blows or anything like that. But on the other hand we know Canelo is a good body puncher so anything's possible. After this Ward Kovalev fight, I would just say "be prepared for anything" in fight's moving forward. Certainly the fight this past weekend have raised some eyebrows so everyone's kinda gonna be more on the lookout for low blows and premature stoppages in future fights.
Oh heavens, you might have to see opposing viewpoints about a controversial fight, what ever shall you do....
Then maybe Ward should've punched him in his exposed face instead of in the balls. Yes ... this will go down with all the classic KOs. Marciano punching Walcott in the trunks in the 13th to win the title. Foreman flooring Frazier six times with punches to Joe's trunks. Julian Jackson stopping Terry Norris in two with a shot right to the front of his pants. All classics. This is such an obvious screw up by the ref. It was a foul. Ward should've been penalized a point. Kovalev should've been given five minutes to recover ... like is the case basically every time someone is floored by a nutshot after the ref has warned them.
I think Kovalev just wanted Ward to stop punching him in the nuts. Which is why he had his arms protecting HIs TRUNKS ... not his head or body.
I agreed it landed low, I didn't state that it was a foul. There's a difference between a punch landing on someones balls vs a punch that lands slightly below the belt-line. If you want to see a punch that landed on someones balls, watch the punch that Bernard Hopkins landed on Roy Jones in 2010.
A punch that lands low is a foul, genius. Read every boxing organization's rulebook. A low blow is a foul. It's NOT identified as a way to score a KO. You won't be seeing that on any classic KO reels because everyone who has watched the sport for a day knows you don't legally KO a guy with a punch to the PANTS. F*Ck. I'm done with you idiots. Only in Nevada do you get one guy scoring a KO with a punch that clearly landed after the bell, and another guy scoring a KO with a low punch to the groin on the same card ... and the commission chair watching both and seeing nothing out of the ordinary. When a bad foul is committed, you give the guy on the receiving end time out for up to five minutes to recover from the foul. It's really easy to do. Has the commission chair ever actually boxed? Or is he just a political appointee? I'm thinking the latter.
That's cool. The consensus saw Kov wanted to quit well before that shot. Life goes on. History is already written.
Very logical, intelligent and unbiased observation. Agree 100%. People here should read this post and learn from it. KUDOS !
