This kid was the star of the show! 18 year old debutant who properly blitzed his foe and announced himself as someone very exciting This content is protected
Iwasa thought he lost and might retire http://www.asianboxing.info/asian-n...ed-in-facing-doheny-iwasa-hints-at-retirement
This content is protected Pretty much all the judges saw the fight the same way most of us who scored it 8-4,7-5 did lol. If a majority of people score a fight one way, how is it a robbery or controversial decision? The funniest **** about the people calling this a robbery is that they’re all largely non-Japanese fans who are basically white knighting Teddy Atlas’ cause which requires you to be 80 years old and pretty demented.
I just watched it. The Japanese tv coverage mind you. The only shocking thing about it is that there was no home cooking. None whatsoever. TJ's punches were sharper & crisper throughout. Sure it was close in the end but the better fighter on the night won. Anyone who saw it differently can only have been influenced by the television commentary they listened to. Teddy Atlas hands in his scorecard before the fight is fought & then spends the rest of the telecast trying to justify it. Anyone saying it was a robbery (yes Dan, I'm referring to you) is declaring how gullible & easily influenced by others they are.
Ryosuke Iwasa didn't have a problem with the decision. Only ESPN & gullible types who listened to its commentary did. This content is protected
Well from that picture it looks clearly like Iwasa won the fight, I however scored it 115-113 Doheny.
If you watched the fight you would know the cut under the right eye was sustained in the first round while the cut under the left eye was inflicted in the second. I had it a round apiece after two. There was another 10 contested after that.
With his cheekbones I'm guessing Doheny cuts like that often, must admit this was the first time I can remember watching him fight.
Also did an interview with Shawn last year http://www.asianboxing.info/interviews/2016-lightweight-rookie-of-the-year-shawn-oda
Many commentators are purposely favouring the hometown or A-side fighter in their commentary because they expect any close decision to go that way. Teddy Atlas is one of the worst. However, in Japan, where there is basically no homecooking whatsoever, such a strategy failed to pay off with excellent cards and Atlas is left, red-faced, trying to justify his own cooked cards.
TJ Doheny himself liked my tweet. That's awesome. Or anyone who hasn't seen it, its very much worth a watch. This content is protected
