I'd say for the first half, a dozen years running, 2000-2012, it was JMM. For the second half, the last dozen years, torch was passed to Kazuto Ioka.

I'm sure many fine purveyors of concatenate strikes will be mentioned. Not many come near the crispness and innovation that pair displays in delivering combos, though. :deal:

    Guidelines to bear in mind:

Stock-standard one-twos don't cut the mustard, nor does spamming a high volume of low quality stuff that misses or grazes. :nono:

Thing with both these guys is the longevity and consistency of their game. Márquez was already cojones-deep in his pro career - a decade, in fact - when he was spinning beauts at Smoke Gainer. Fast-forward another decade, and he's still tossing chain lightning at Tim Bradley.

Ioka likewise, you watch him snatching Gemelo Alvarado's zero in 2013 on NYE and then compare with yesterday's title defense versus Josber Pérez - the fidelity is astounding. His form and physical ability overall has slipped a bit with age in the last few years (as had Dinamita's by the match with Desert Storm), but when he's on and gets his gears all greased up - man, he's still as much a joy to watch as ever.

Chocolatito is probably the best combination puncher since JMM IMO.

Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez. Even better combination puncher than Marquez or anyone from the last 25 years. Nothing can topple the machine from Managua Nicaragua! :deal:

Not sure about better combination puncher than JMM but certainly a creative puncher nonetheless. Hard to pick between the two, their punch selection is just a beauty to watch when they let those hands go.

Chocolatito is up there for sure, but I stand firm. Number three spot's all his. :D

I'm going to add Manny Pacquiao's name to the mix. Manny's combos may not have been traditional in nature but the unique angles and speed with which he threw his combinations along with the results he obtained have to put Pac Man high on the list.

Gonna throw David Benavidez in there. When he leashes those quick 6+ punch combos it’s a beauty to watch.

Linares and Lomachenko are both probably top 15 of the last 24 years, probably both have a case for top five of the last decade ...wouldn't put them quite on that JMM/Ioka/Chocolatito pedestal though.

In the 1990s it was RJJ, PBF, MAB, DLH, and...Terrible Terry Norris maybe?

Tito should be mentioned among the 90s guys, as should Tapia and even Carbajal before he fell in love with his power.

Orlando Canizales was pretty special to when it came to putting them together.

Jose Luis Lopez when he turned up.

JCC is the best combination puncher I've ever seen though. I rank him higher than everyone else you listed at his best. The accuracy and fluidity was ridiculous tbh.

As for current, I really enjoy Julio Cesar Martinez' crazy unorthodox combinations.
