Number one p4p combination puncher of the millennium so far?

Exactly my thoughts, great at the one highly specialized combination - meaning effectively great at throwing his left cross. His right jab wasn't terrific; it didn't need to be.

And yeah Terry is definitely a guy who at his best aces eye tests, but it's hard to convert nonbelievers due to a) his memorable KO losses (in fairness they were against big punchers; he's less of a glass cannon IMO than a Roger Mayweather) and b) his résumé being maybe not weak per se but certainly riddled with asterisks.

 

All in the very good range at least; I'd say PBF, MAB and Loma transcend into great combination punchers for their era in their primes.

 

Ooh yeah, they called him Too Sharp for a reason.

 

Good shout! He built a lot of fine work off his lead right, mostly. Once he got a head of steam going he was deadly with his sustained barrages.

Let's have folks' #1 active combination puncher in each division.

 

Bear in mind I watch about 5% as much boxing as during my first ~16 years on here, so there may be some blind spots (in addition to just ADHD brain farts and completely blanking on someone), but here's my rough draft.

Bear in mind also - the best combination puncher doesn't have to be the best overall fighter in a division, and could even conceivably be outside a top 15.

1. Heavyweight - obviously Usyk. With all due respect, any differing opinion is stupid and wrong.
2. Cruiserweight - jeez, this is hard. GRS throws a high volume but they're hardly crisp showroom-floor combos. Opetaia is more a trap-setter with power pot shot snipes. Riakporhe and Okolie are clinching monstrosities. CBS is more a one and done counter-puncher (at least versus Masternak, haven't honestly seen too much of him...or probably have but didn't leave a strong enough impression to embed in any braincells ). Ngabu is a fairly color by numbers peekaboo hooky-hooky swatter. Really slim pickings here. I'm gonna say Badou Jack, actually.
3. Light Heavyweight - much stiffer competition than in the class above. Four way tie between Beterbiev, Gzodvyk, Bivol and Smith tbh. I can't split 'em, take your pick.
4. Super Middleweight - another final four I'm too lazy to parse out any further: Derevyanchenko, Benavidez, Plant and Canelo.
5. Middleweight - Alimkhanuly. By some distance; aside from him middle is nearly as weak in this category as cruiser.
6. Super Welterweight - Madrimov or Butaev.
7. Welterweight - Bud. Honorable mention to Spence and Santillán.
8. Super Lightweight - Subriel Ahmed Matías.
9. Lightweight - Loma, even now.
10. Super Featherweight - Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov. Sort of a Terry Norris type, in the sense that his offense is gorgeous but it's just a shame about his defense/chin being liabilities at times.
11. Featherweight - Wood innit.
12. Super Bantamweight - Inoue, class apart, no runners-up circle, get real.
13. Bantamweight - Higa.
14. Super Flyweight - Ioka.
15. Flyweight - Félix Alvarado.
16. Light Flyweight - Teraji.
17. Minimumweight - Shigeoka (either bro honestly )
