Not shocking to be honest. The US very rarely takes to a fighter if he isn't American or at least has some ethnic connection to a boxer such as being Irish American, Cuban in Miami, Polish in Chicago etc.

It's why I think Hearn wants to test the waters by having Joshua fight Miller in the US. To break the US you have to fight there pure and simple. Hamed fought Kelly in NY, Pac fought numerous times on US soil, same with Duran, Hatton fought Callazo as well as having a few fights early on in the US.

If Joshua can make a big splash on his US debut like Hamed did, then I'm sure Hearn will push for a Vegas fight with Wilder as clearly that's when this fight could break into the $100mill bracket. If Joshua gets a luke warm reception then he'll settle for the UK.

Pac fought some 30 times in the Philippines and almost as many times in the U.S.

    The numbers are indeed in:

Anthony Joshua earns $15-20 million and boxes infront of 80,000 - 90,000
Deontay Wilder earns $1.5 million and boxes infront of 9,000

If Wilder is more popular in the USA and only earns that much. Then the UK is well and truly the home of heavyweight boxing.

Damn, has the US fallen from grace.

Wilder is so amazingly popular in the US he makes about $1.5 million per fight! Those are unheard of purses, AJ is jealous!

This. Joshua's is a giant draw in the U.K., but hasn't fought away from home yet. Hearn planned on having a Joshua-Wlad rematch in Vegas at the T-mobile arena, which wouldn't been a great way to introduce Joshua to the American market, but Wlad retired.

If he were to get a few fights in the US and then fought Wilder at the T-mobile arena he could easily become a marketable commodity in the US. Joshua and Wilder would also be the first heavyweight title fight for the T-mobile arena.

To fight Wilder or ant other American fighter in Las Vegas is the height of stupidity. No non - American fighter should ever go there.

Joshua won't be even close to as popular. There will be a lot of UK folk who fly over but I don't see Americans lining up to buy a ticket to his fight.
