Nunez does better pad work than Claressa Shields

Nunez was just throwing punches but Shields was setting traps. That is why she was hitting the pads like that.

 

On this point we can agree on, Shields doesn't want what Marshall brings.

Her boxing is fantastic for MMA standards. Her boxing is even very good for boxing standards considering Women's boxing is just not that great and hasn't a great depth in most weight classes. Christina Hammer is also a very good boxer technically. She looks also very good on the pads. Did she beat Shields? Hell no...Shields was beating her up.

Nunes got two quick finishes against Cyborg and a semi retired Rousey who was stopped by Holly Holm before that? Yes, she did. It can happen. They're fighting with small gloves. And Cyborg and Rousey are both hyper aggressive fighters who ran into shots. Does it mean anything for a potential BOXING fight against Shields. No.

Shields beats her in boxing, Nunes gonna really mess her up in MMA. If you really think Nunes beats Shields in a boxing fight at 160 or 167 you just don't have any idea about the whole thing. Of course Nunes is a very good boxer and she would beat a lot of girls in pro boxing for sure but Shields isn't one of them.

Nunes padwork looks like a stiff choreography, like when someone is dancing and making the moves, but they don't quite look right.

Shields looked a lot better, better torque, better posture, better head movement.

Anyone can rehease that style of padwork by Nunes, her chin is sticking right up, it's more for flash than fundamentals.

 

Shields was clearly working on counters and drilling.
Nunes was just freeballin it.

Much different.

And both look good, Shields looks better.

Mitts arent always for showing off on promo day. She looks like a professional boxer drilling counters on mitts.
