Nuri Seferi vs. Tamás Lödi RBR

Round 1

Lödi is kicking up dirt, lifting and replacing his left foot and shifting his weight to and fro. Seferi puts up a few light jabs and jab-feints. Lödi drops in a 1-2 behind Seferi's head and pulls down on it. Lödi keeps surrendering the height advantage diving in past jabs, head down. Left hook on the body from Seferi. Lödi circles lazily to his left, taking a drill-bit straight right on the gut. Seferi is cutting the ring off, slowly, putting up left hooks on the champion and catching him standing tall and straight. Nice uppercut planted underneath the chin by Seferi moving inside. Lödi is dancing away, back and to his left. Seferi is jabbing high, just missing the face of Lödi. Seferi is looking to load up the right hand coming in, using the jabs as diversion so Lödi can't see whether it will come in straight form or uppercut.

Round 2

Lödi is shuffling out, shoes flattened, more than shoulder-width apart. Sweeping hook by Lödi while moving left and in. Seferi counters with a right hand up top, knocking Lödi's arm to one side. Lödi is trading jabs with Seferi, hovering in front of him tilted slightly forward, and eats a 1-2 on the chin while dangling it temptingly for Seferi - within his ideal firing range, no less...low-hanging fruit indeed. Seferi is jabbing up the inline of Lödi's eye sockets and effectively disguising the slow but heavy right uppercut, thumping Lödi on the chest and backing him up. Body whack by Seferi as they close in.

Round 3

Lödi is leaning in, slapping down with the right hand and opening up as he corkscrews in a left hook, traveling out several inches to his left after starting out slotted nice and tight by his chin. Every time Lödi begins throwing punches, Seferi uses timing and power to punish him and force him to retreat, despite having very low hand speed. Seferi is landing the uppercut regularly all up and down the landing strip of Lödi's breast. Long gangly 1-2 by Lödi as he shuffles backward into a corner, blocked on the high guard and thrown so loosely his fists almost bounce in recoil back into his own face. Lödi jogs away to his left. Seferi backs him into a corner and whips some right hands into the undercarriage. Lödi jogs backward as the bell sounds.

Round 4

Lödi is braving the inner waters, dropping a right hand atop Seferi's head but quickly chased out with a floor-combing left upper-hook that Seferi delivers from past his knees. Lödi is backed across the ring, Seferi pressuring merely by imposition, throwing nothing as he raises his guard on the forward march. Seferi holds out his left glove, fully extended, parrying some Lödi right hands, swirling them away with spiraling motions instead of snapping a jab. Seferi chops Lödi across the jaw with a short right hand after blocking some jabs and rights on the body while backing up.

10-9 Seferi, closest round all night but still clear for the challenger.

40-36 Seferi

 

The commentators on EuroSport UK are going on about Lödi's power being there as possibly a bail-out for him (since, they acknowledge, he is squandering all his other physical advantages) but he is so far not demonstrating that he is the more powerful guy, just bigger.

Besides, nobody has ever legitimately knocked Seferi out. His one stoppage loss - thirteen years ago - was from an injury. He went the distance with the likes of Denis Bakhtov, Marco Huck, Taras Bidenko and Herbie Hide...and even the likes of Gusmyr Perdomo and Steve Herelius are higher class and more dangerous than anyone Lödi has shared the ring with, except for Ilunga Makabu who knocked him out in three rounds. :deal

 

Round 5

Lödi is climbing up to Lödi's cheek with his line drive lead right and then clapping down with the left hook as Lödi predictably bends forward over him to smother and lean. Lödi gets in a right hand. Seferi keeps the guard up and pressures with a bit more punching now, in slow and steady combinations.

Round 6

Lödi is creeping out to the ropes and faking right hands but keeping them holstered. Seferi approaches, looking through a peekaboo. Nobody is punching. Soft right hand pitched over Seferi's back as Lödi falls in on him. The ref warns Seferi for a low blow. Double jab by Lödi bending over, right hand lurching forward. Seferi counters with a hook. Another exchange inside and Lödi is rocked by a left hook. Body shots by Seferi.

Round 7

Lödi is doubling a wet-noodle jab out into Seferi's guard and falling in with rights on the body, hitting elbow. Seferi backs Lödi into the ropes with hooks and uppercuts. Seferi is tossing a few stiff jabs up at Lödi's brow, mostly just starting off with power shots and building up steam with his chugging combos. Seferi is walking Lödi repeatedly into the corner and bracing himself with a left arm turned horizontally against Lödi's chest before slamming the right uppercut onto it. Lödi is skipping out and changing directions, dropping light jabs on the belt line. Lödi whips a right hand down onto Seferi's left shoulder. Seferi moves in and gets tied up, chopping high with the right while his face is buried against Lödi. Push-off with the left forearm by Seferi, prying free of a clinch and working the right uppercut. Seferi walks Lödi across the ring and jabs in between his arms. Cuffing hook on the back of the head by Lödi jumping around Seferi. Lödi is shoved into the ropes, Seferi pumping away with body shots. Hook up top by Seferi as Lödi paws a jab dancing away.
