Ok so i know a question liek this was asked but the answer didnt solve roblem. Basically my parents are from a south asian background. So we have curry and foods high in oil quite regulary. What shall i do? ive told my mum to make healthy stuff but she doesnt listen and just makes thwe odd salmon now and again. Help? Also wh is youre typical daily eating day? i.e. breakfast.... dinner..... snack......
Do a little research and find some recipes that are similar to what your family eats and ask your mom if you can help her cook. Try to bake more, rather than frying everything.
Asian people are some of the healthiest in the world with lowest risks of alot of bad things such as heart disease ect. I imagine an asian style diet would be pretty good? Surley better than western junk at least its proper home cooked meals. You just might have to be carefull that you dont eat other **** and junk for snacks ect. Im no expert though do some reasearch you may be able to find ideas like changing the oil used to vegitable oil would be a good start. Maybe in chicken dishes grilling it instead of frying it ect.
not really... we asians love rice and other stuff like that with like high sugar value.... we also just love eating skin and other stuff that is high in fat... my uncle and mom has heart attack and other problems hopefully i wont have it but trust me asian style meals arent much better
fair play you learn something new everyday , i always thought generally asian foods were reasonably healthy
You might want to try draining the rice before cooking it. Apparently this removes a lot of the starch. As other people suggested, you'll be looking to bake and grill instead of fry. It tastes equally as good and it's much healthier for yourself, and also for your family.
Judging from my observations there aren't a lot of fat people in south Asia. What you need is a large variety of natural healthy foods. Even if it is fried, it is still healthier than highly processed junk food. Go to the local farmer's market, there's lots to chose from and usually at good prices.
first off u make asian food as healthy as u want to eating sushi is a great asian meal its very well balanced with carbs and protein...i was very big into lifting and eating healthy before i started boxing...2 dont eat fried rice...eat white rice...yes draining rice will remove some nutrients in it but does remove starch...thats why taking a multi vitamin will take care of the nutrients lost..its a complex carb and isnt cooked in fatty oil ...oil is healthy in reasonable doses ....due to the monounsaturated fats....these lower LDL cholesterol u know the bad cholesterol...i believe the recommend intake of oil a day is two tablespoons... in white rice there is monounsaturated fat with very minimal saturated fat (bad fat)...3 sodium...asian food is LOADED with sodium...LOADED! i think one teaspoon of soy sauce has something crazy like 600mg of sodium...thats almost ******ed...sodium retains water and makes it more difficult for your heart to pump hence the reason that there has been two heart attacks in your family... sodium is a component of salt and limiting this will prevent your heart from working extra hard to pump...when all this water is retained into your body it sits in your stomach, legs, feet....and my other question is to you...why cant you make your own meals? i live with my mom and i dont eat half the **** that my family eats...just go out and by some chicken breast, turkey breast, tuna, and fish..watch what you cook your fish in because it can make the diffearnce in how much sodium you do take in...dont eat to much of it though because fish does already have a naturally higher sodium content...and it contains mercury in it..try to limit fish two no more that twice a week..meats that are high in protein low in fat and minimal carbs...but at the same time you do want to have a complex carb in there such as baked potato, white rice, no starch pasta...the reason for this is that protein digests better when takin in with a complex carb...and at the same time take a multi vitamin and eat some veggies for the lost nutrients in your rice...5 eating a snack....i love cottage cheese and fruit...its a perfect snack...if you hate it then try a protein shake in a blender with a banana some strawberries and maybe a cup of dry oatmeal....it will fill you up for a couple hours...space your meals out a few hours apart and just maintain a healthy well balanced diet...and remember you are what you eat!
asian diet is not very nutritional. yes some of it is not bad but most of it is pretty high in sodium/or vegetable oil. rice and white flour are used exclusively and a lot of carbohydrates are digested by asians due to the amount of grains available. Meat is not as good as it is in asia as it is in the western world. The meats are usually deep fried and are either seasoned with butter and oil and yogurt. (example tandoori marinated chicken, chicken tikka masala, general tso's chicken) asian cuisine is good but out of all the asian countries I would rank japanese cusine best and perhaps some thai food. other than that, the rest is pretty bad...
