I'm looking to get in better shape for boxing. Currently, I'm overweight and out of shape (due to multiple knee surgeries...not being able to walk or run), and I'm about 240 pounds. I want to get to about 175-185 pounds of pure muscle, with little bodyfat.

I'm looking for a good diet that will help me maximize muscle and energy, and minimize bodyfat.

I go to college and I'm pretty sure I can only get three meals a day...however, there's a snack bar that I can go to any time.

Here are the meals I can choose from:

I'm looking for someone that can help make me a good diet...would prefer someone with extensive nutritional experience, and boxing experience. I want to know EVERYTHING. Like what times to eat, what to eat, what days to eat it, etc.

    Would be a GIGANTIC help!

Um, I just had major knee surgery about a week ago, I highly doubt I can even walk...obviously when it gets better, I'll start running again, and obviously I want a diet for when I can run and condition again...

since you cant do much cardio or any other kind of exercise because of your surgery i'll suggest to just stay away from any type of junk food, an avoid gaining too much weight during the time you'll be inactive, there are plenty of diets around you can find online but im not big on dieting just eat healthy in small amounts dont over eat

No, I can't right now. I will be able to soon though. I know weight gain/loss is just calories burned vs. calories consumed, but I don't know things like what goods carbs and bad carbs are, or what good fats and bad fats are, same with sugars.

And as much as I wish I could, I can't cook food. I'm living in a dorm, and my microwave is broken. For obvious reasons, no toaster or stove.

If you can't walk or run try working out on a cardio rowing machine. As for nutrition, I suggest avoiding refined sugar, refined flour, canned food, highly processed food, margarine, fried food and all junk/fast food. Make most of your meals fruits, vegetables and meat using whole grain as part of the meals but not the main part of it. Only drink water, avoid soda and juices (make your fruit servings real fruit). Snack on fruits and nuts (but don't over do it with the nuts). If you're really extreme about losing the weight fast you could also cut read meat.

Having said all of this, I'm no expert on nutrition and don't have any experience in the field. Everything I know about nutrition has been through independent research and what I do with my body. This is pretty much my diet principles which keep me pretty slim, but I've never had to lose weight before.

Actually, I've still been working out though, just VERY carefully. Still working out upper body by lifting weights, also doing lots of pullups in my doorway, crutches are also a killer arm workout, and I can sort of do one-legged jump rope, so that's some extra conditioning...just wish I could shoot around with a basketball and chase my shots at a rapid pace, because that's a huge source of conditioning for me.
