Was everyone aware Ali nuumbembe had caleld it a day and is to return to Namibia? Anyone who's met Ali will know what a great guy he is and anyone who knows anything about his life will agree he's been through many hardships and has constantly fought through the face of adversity to achieve what he has in the pro game. Personally I'd love Ali to stay and fight on, but he's made his descision and will return to namibia to work in the armed forces and hopefuly train young fighters over there. Good luck Ali, and thanks for some great nights boxing.
He was commonwealth champion, beat kevin anderson last year. he may have sparred Witter, he has deffo sparred Hatton. He trained form shannons gym, manchester alongside David Barnes, kevin Anderson, denton vassel etc..
You have to respect his reasons for calling it a day but I hope its not too hasty a decision on the back of losing the Commonwealth Title to Craig Watson last month. Very well thought of and classy operator who has given us some good fights - hope everything works out for him in the future.
I'm suprised at his decision but I wish him all the best. Good fighter who was involved in decent fights. Good luck to him!
Was a bit gutted when I heard this as have always enjoyed watching Ali. He at least deserved a rematch after the bad cut he suffered in his last fight.
According to BBN Nuumbembe will be back in action in Colne in March after losing to Watson with that cut so perhaps he isn't calling it a day after all?
Elle, We did the press release on Friday and we were only informed on Saturday that Ali was going home. Shame after all the hard work getting up there that a cut eye loss makes this happen ,but I can understand that living away from home you do not want to go through all the hard work and waiting again. Best wishes to Ali ,it has been a pleasure being a part of the bumpy ride and the win in Scotland remains one of my best nights in boxing. STEVE WOOD
