    trained at trinity boxing gym

its in a great location and has good equipment, one full size one small ring, 8 heavybags a double end, a speed bag, lots of spaces with mirrors, a small weights room, cardio machines and a small conditioning area.

trainers are average but friendly, they are not certified by any boxing body and do not claim to be. they are pro's who workout in the gym in the day time and hold the pads for you when they are working a shift. you will not get much attention other than ur 2 rounds on the pads and it is clear that most of them are just there because they have to be - they dont have a passion to teach. but they are great boxers in their own right and have a good sense of humour and friendly attitude.

if you are starting out or want to lose weight this is the best place for you without a doubt.

if you want to take boxing seriously and u need a trainer, go somewhere else.

if u train yourself and have your own routine, this gym offers a great space for u to do that, in a great location but at a high price.

overall i'd give trinity 7/10. but only because its so friendly and there really is a family feel. however without this, it would get a 5 - its expensive, the trainers aren't going to make you into a fighter and there are alot of people there just to lose weight etc.

I was actually considering of giving Trinity a test drive but after reading your post, I think I'll pass. I am really looking for trainers who are willing to teach and guide me into competitive boxing, and not just encourage me to lose weight. In fact I'd like to gain some weight in muscle mass but that'll come along with my weightlifting and diet plans. As far as boxing, once again I need a gym with that traditional boxing gritty atmosphere.

I found Church Street Boxing Gym (nyboxinggym.com) quite impressive judging by its website. has anyone heard of this place or had any firsthand experience? Thanks again!

You can also get private lessons at Trinity with an excellent qualified trainer but they are expensive so this depends on your budget.

Also if you are able to go to trinity in the day time, I believe there are pro trainers on hand there.

I dont meant to discourage people from joining trinity as it is a great gym but I feel i should be honest with regards to the services you get.

Do not go to church street boxing gym. The trainers don't even noe where they are standing. I used to train their a year back when hey had decent trainers but they all quit now they have twenty something year olds dat with no experience except mayb 2 amateur fights each. Nobody gets taken seriously their. Go to Mendez boxing gym it a thousand times better and u get the attention ur paying for. As far a pricing it's $185 per month. I rate church street 2/10 & Mendez 9/10. Hope this helps

i think im gonna try mendez out this weekend

J0kawild what are the sessions like, do u get a trainer for the whole time or is there just some kid saying "now hit the bag" "now do 20 pressups" "now hit the mitts for 1 round" "now go shower"

or do u get some personal attention from REAL trainers???

Jokawild, thanks for the heads up on Church Street. But i've read a dozen articles praising this gym as it is the largest in the city and the most popular. Not to say that it means it is the best but I will definitely have to see for myself what the hype is all about. They have a 5 dollar special on Friday nights where they expose first-timers to basic training and what the gym is all about for an hour or so. So it won't hurt to try that out. However, I will definitely look into Mendez. I visited their site (mendezboxingny.com) and this is what really caught my eye:
"All of our trainers are skilled professional and amateur trainers with over 30 years of fight experience." I also love the fact that it's just walking distance from my job. THANKS again for recommending it, Jokawild. How long have you been going to Mendez? And is the gym generally packed?
