They are concerned over the usage of EPO and HGH and want a better testing policy(that could possibly include blood testing) in place to say ahead of the curve.
Good news for them, hopefully it gets implemented. The problem I had with Mayweather's request wasn't the testing, it was him playing the part of the commissioners in handing down what would and wouldn't be acceptable for Pacquiao. If, instead of besmirching Pac's reputation publicly, he had been approaching the commissions themselves to lobby for better testing, I'd support that 100%. To sum up, I'm for better testing- but against the way Mayweather went about trying to get it. It seemed more like a jealous backlash for Pac's popularity than for the altruistic reason of cleaning the sport up.
Everybody knows that Floyd isn't trying to clean up boxing. He's trying to expose Manny. Nonetheless, Top Rank always says that they aren't going to do anything that the commission doesn't make them do. If the fight can happen in New York and their testing is updated and Madison Square Garden wants the fight, want would Top Rank's excuse be then?
Top Rank always said that they'll have no problem doing whatever the commission asks them to do. But I don't see a fight like Pacquiao vs Mayweather ending up in NYC anyways. They've already discussed before the whole testing saga that the taxes were too high.
Maybe, maybe not. Mayweather's actions highlight a bigger problem within the sport. There isn't enough organization. There is too much chaos going on which allows fighters to implement their own rules. In this proposed fight, both Pacquiao and Mayweather decided to implement clauses that superceeded commission guidelines. No other sport that I can think of allows for this to happen.
Asking for millions per pound for coming in over weight is trying to "play the part" of the Sanctioning Bodies who already have fines in place for this.
I dont know what kind of response youre planning on getting here by using logical arguments instead of baseless claims and insults
if its good for the sport then it should be implemented in all fights not just in all of mayweathers fights.
I try not to think about it but so many boxers are probably on PEDs, There is no chance of being caught if you are careful. If given the chance to improve your performances and consequently wages, many will take the chance, the health risks associated with PEDs is dwarfed by the risks of being punched in the face for a living. How many do you think will refuse on moral grounds?
Of course this doesn't matter to Top Rank or Pacquiao, they made it abundantly clear they do not want to fight in Tax zones like New York or California with Pacquiao. What I want to hear is if Nevada or Texas makes this change, cause then that means there is no place for Pacquiao to go if that occurs.
