Well that's dark but if you don't want to click on the link 100,000 pound to the winner 50,000 pound to the runner up a guaranteed 7,500 pound to all contestants for their first fights and bonuses for KO's so dOuble that for a $$$ figure.
Browne sounded like he is committed to this also from his recent comments: "There's a big tournament in NZ In June that I'll be a part of, and then hopefully Chisora and Fury" - Lucas Browne on samsboxinghaven
It does sound that way. But still looks a very attractive thing to be part of if you are confident you can progress.
It's about whether they can adapt to it or not. Browne can bang. But has over his past few fights, no doubt under instruction from his team, learnt to be more patient in waiting for openings and making his shots count. In this style of fight he obviously needs to go out harder and take the initiative from the first bell. Can't see why he wouldn't be capable of it.
They will need to flog it around. Otherwise where is all the folding stuff going to come from? 500 large isn't going to fall out of the trees.
Here's how the tournament money works: Each fighter is guaranteed a $15,000+GST purse. Thereafter they must win each fight to claim the next stage’s prize. Fighters who do not pass stage one receive $15,000+GST, Stage 2 fighters who don’t advance receive $30,000+GST, thereafter the losing finalist receives $100,000+GST and the tournament winner receives $200,000+GST. Throughout the evening fighters can receive bonuses for KO’s, best fights and fight of the night. So the 4 losers in round 1 each receive $15k (sub-total there is $60k) The 2 losers in round 2 each receive $30k (sub-total there is $60k) Runner-up receives $100k Winner receives $200k There is an additional $80k in bonuses available - bringing the total prize pool available to $500k.
Can any of the Aussie lads tell me about the Browne - Haumono situation. I have seen Browne over here in the UK and he seems the type who will take anyone on, is he ducking this Haumono guy.
A topic that's already been discussed to death. See this thread: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=498401
Haumono is pretty much a joke and would not last 2 rounds with Browne, it would have been a total mismatch.
Assuming Browne is going to compete in this tournament, and he said he is, Haumono knows where to find him if he's looking for him :yep
Yes after seeing what he did to Marcelo Luis Nascimento he is ducking Haumono. Browne is wisely steering clear of Haumono.
