Oakland Billy Smith

    A while ago McGrain once asked if Billy Smith was still alive and i wondered myself but could find no proof of death so i started some research.

    So far i have got that he worked as a Highay Patrol Officer possibly in Nebraska and that afew years ago a poster on the Cyberboxingzone board spotted him outside his house, but i will have to research the last bit further.

    My next step will be to contact the Nebraska Highway Patrol.

    I will let you guys know how i get on.

    As an aside, in later years, "Oakland" Billy Smith changed his nickname to "Boardwalk" Billy Smith, to appeal to new fan base, fighting out of Atlantic City, N.J.

    Thanks J and originally he was Berenally Billy Smith, he also seemed to box in Chicago more regulary as his career went on. Hopefully it was the Nebraska highway patrol he joined as im not to keen in going through all the states.

    Rosenfeld posted, or appeared to post here for a little while. If it was really him, he posted under his own name. The long and short? Admin will have an e-mail address for him and may be willing to fire on a message on your behalf.

    Otty is easier to contact, and that might be worth your while. Otty certainly met Burley and may have tried to track down some of these other boys.
