what do you guys think of Carr? From 89-99 he was 48-3-1 (although lacks a signature win). His only 3 loses were in title fights to Tito, Ike and DLH. Was he one of those guys who unfortunately fought during a tough era, or was he destined to be just a contender in any era? Could he have been champ in another era during his prime 94-99, or was he just not good enough?

An underrated operator who had the bad luck to come about in a deep era in his divisions history...

Good fighter in an excellent era. Today he’d be a multi-time champ and lauded as a pound for pound player and potential great which would be too far. I’d pick him to beat Thurman, Spence, Porter, the Garcia’s but not Crawford.

Quick fighter who stayed in the range of punches. Fast hands but not fast head movement and the top guys hit him rather easily.

    Very good.

Defense and resilency not good enough to allow him to advance to elite level.

He was overrated as Hell and ChrisJS' post is a prime exanple of why.

Carr would lose to Spence... and by stoppage. The man got gift decisions over Darrell Coley and an ancient Livingstone Bramble.

Unless you're gonna try and convince me that Spence would lose to Coley and a 95-year-old Bramble... lol. He lacked the stamina, power, physical strength, and chin to beat Spence. And dont give me crap about his "skills" when Spence is the better technician of the two by quite a margin.

The narrative around Carr needs to change. He wasnt unlucky.. he just didn't have it in him to be a truly elite welter. He lacked the stamina and durability to do so.

Out of the current welters, I'd take Carr over Garcia and Porter, as those two are pretty crappy.
