Objectively, the two reasons why Pac must rank higher than Floyd in ATG terms...

I'm not saying that Mayweather is not an ATG, he is.

I'm not saying that Mayweather is not a fighter of incredible skills and ability, he is.

But I do believe that, as things stand, Manny Pacquiao must rank higher than Floyd Mayweather in terms of pound-for-pound all-time career greatness, objectively-speaking,

ie: the two reasons that Pacquiao would be regarded by boxing journalists and historians as the greater fighter in the future if both guys retired tomorrow are...

and I do feel that these reasons are pretty irrefutable.

    Reason 1

This thread isn't about hating or anything of the sort. I believe Pacquiao is greater than Mayweather as things stand, and also believe that boxing history will recognize this as well, unless Floyd does something dramatic to turn the tables such as taking on and defeating either Pacman or Martinez.

Thought I should make my reasons for this opinion clear. :good

I agree. And the only way to settle it is for them to fight eachother. Until then Pacman>mayweather and that's just the way it is

The Jose Luis Castillo win is every bit as good as anything on Pacquiao's resume.

How can you give Pacquiao credit for barely getting the SD over Marquez in 2008 but give Floyd NO credit for shutting out Marquez in 2009?

Exactly how does that logic work?

And BTW: exactly how does Pacquiao's LOSSES and the DRAW with Marquez factor into the equation?

    Are you joking? :huh

Pacquiao fought Marquez at his prime weight.

Floyd fought him 14lbs above that, 2 weights higher than Marquez had ever been before.

    Pretty simple, to be honest.

I don't view them as particularly central to this argument, same as I don't view Ali's 5 losses as central to the debate over who was greater between him and the undefeated Rocky Marciano, or Jones's 8 losses as central to the debate over who was greater between him and the undefeated Joe Calzaghe.

Pac's first loss came when he was a skinny, raw as hell, green teenager. His 2nd came when he was so weight-drained he jumped THREE divisions for his very next fight.

I scored the 1st Marquez fight to Pac by 115-112, so I view it as not as close as Floyd vs Castillo 1, which I scored to JLC by 115-113.

    :good

Well that's very convenient. Unfortunately, your view isn't very objective.

    Losses matter.

Pacquiao has losses and a draw.

Those losses and that draw factor into the equation.

Floyd is undefeated and has fought equally stiff competition.

    Mayweather > Pacquiao

    Well, if we're going to go down that road;

Barrera was clearly PAST IT when Pacquiao got to him
    Morales out right embarrased him
And there are quite a few people who thought Marquez WON the rematch

Lemme guess Mayweather is greater than Roberto Duran, because LOSSES MATTER.

 Nice way to cut off the rest of my post.

Let me ask you, who do you consider the greater fighter between:

    - Muhammad Ali (5 losses) and Rocky Marciano (0 losses)

    - Roy Jones Jr (8 losses) and Joe Calzaghe (0 losses)

    - Sugar Ray Leonard (3 losses) and Ricardo Lopez (0 losses)

    Nope.

    Nonsense.

No one really ranks Floyd ahead of Pac in an ATG list other than Floyd fanatics.
