this is exactly what I was thinking about. Who has bivol beaten so that he can say that bivol is 2 levels over canelo?? :nusenuse:

barrera, smith and pascal are OK victories. Just that. Nothing I think that can be used to justify that he's at canelo's level. The only thing that tells that he is at canelo's level is the eye test, imho.

This is the oportunity for bivol to prove that the eye test is right and that he is a top fighter.

Canelo will be the source of truth. He will tell us.

I think Bivol - assuming he isn't catchweighted, rehydration claused, and comes in sharp - is going to be one of the hardest fights of Canelo's career. I think Canelo and team saw a LHW that was not that big, who doesn';t have huge power and who has faded sometimes late in fights, and they thought that he's hard but doable. Invest in the body early, and later on Canelo will cave his head in.

But I see the other side of the coin. Bivol is very mobile and not easy to hit clean. His sense of distance is top notch. He doesn't hit that hard but he hits hard enough. And Canelo himself fades in fights if he has to fight at a high pace. Canelo is going to be trying to walk him down with his bum knee and he's going to be running into Bivol's fast straight punches all night.

The question then comes up. Suppose he does manage to slow bivol down even after giving the early rounds away. Can he KO him? Canelo might look like dog treats after Bivol's barrage. He might not be that sharp himself. Bivol got rocked by Smith, but (1) Smith is a huge hitter and (2) Smith caught him with a punch that Bivol was not expecting. Otherwise DB has demonstrated a pretty solid chin.

I think the odds are great if you have some money to waste and you want to drop some $$$ on Bivol. This might be Canelo's hardest fight since GGG and some might argue that it might even be harder than GGG because Canelo doesn't really like chasing people down.

This technically should be Canelo's hardest fight. Bivol is prime (he did look rusty against Richards, but I'll be generous to Clenhead) (unlike GGG and Mayweather who were old) , he is a decent sized super middle and has shown to be legit fighting bigger harder hitting guys at light heavy (I'm sure there'll be some delude Clen fans that believe Canelo hits harder than Joe Smith Jr), and he is very skilled.

It's all good making some analysis for Clenelos fights unfortunately Bivol will come to lose. It will be a sparring session. Bivol would brutally spark Canelo out cold if he came to win.. Just like Kovalev would have if he weren't paid to spar

Difficult to be optimistic Bivol will be treated fairly. Alvarez’ team are past master’s at manipulating things in their favour.
There’s the judges, referee, sanctioning bodies all bending over backwards to assist him. The media, dare not say a word against him. One example only, The DAZN daily show.

This could go either way as Bivol is a quality who should be fully motivated.

    According to 'experts' here....
Byster Douglas has no business beating Tyson. Cuz who he beat?
Rahman should not have beaten Lewis...cuz who he beat?
Manny should not have beaten MAB...cuz who he beat?
Shane Mosley should not have beaten Oscar in their first fight...cuz who he beat?
Floyd should not have beaten Genero....cuz who he beat?
And the beat goes on....and the beat goes on....

If your first instinct is to go see their record and look for names you like or recognize to make a pick, you lack some serious understanding of the sport.

There is more to size than just height. Bivol would be a more effective Super Middleweight than he would a Cruiserweight. Kovalev wouldn't

Bivols resume is fairly light on top wins. Canelo has only had 1 fight at that weight against a very compromised Kovalev.
Taking into account how strategical Canelo's team have been in matchmaking they clearly see something that most don't and see Bivol as vulnerable in some way. I mean even if Bivol wins he's getting the shaft. I think it's competitive and Ginger gets the nod.
