Have you noticed when most refs stop a fight, they always grab the fighters head or neck and often times holds the fighters head close to them? Why do you think this is common? Is it a sign of sympathy? A sign of guilt knowing that they witnessed this man getting beat and they COULD have stopped it earlier?
In the case of both Miranda and JT, it seemed like Smoger was putting his sack in their face.....T-bagging if you will.
Referee's have the best seats in the house, and watching those kind of shots land with impact being only a few feet away must be really intense. They sympathize.
Its the Ref's moment in the sun....and they are simply displaying their authority in a compassionate fasion. Some call it " Grandstanding "
I agree...and in the two instances I had described, Ref. Smoger struck a pose, not unlike a disco move from Saturday Night Fever, with his sack right in thier faces....T-Bag style. So, yes, absolutely! To be T-Bagging high profile boxers live on HBO is Grandstanding to the absolute fullest of the word.
