    What did Limon make you feel that other fighters couldn't match? Why is he top of that tier? Simply how exciting his matches were?

    Yes bud, you just can't explain to someone who wasn't there how boxing was in the 70s and e a rly 80s. Only 4 channels on t.v.. No cable. The beat fought on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Usually fights on both days. At school or work everybody talked about the fights. Even women knew because they were in the room when it was on. Boxing was viable man. And VIOLENT!! 15 rounds. Nothing matches it. And the fights were covered in SI and sooo many boxing mags. I have all the mags from the late 60s to 1985 I think. THE Ring. Boxing Illustrated World Boxing Big Book of Boxing International Boxing Other more obscure titles. Great coverage. Great pics.Then later in 1980 KO which for 5 years w as s terrific. Then changed. Gre as t being a fan. I believe I bought every boxing book th as t c as me out then. Now I am like a weird cultfollower. If I buy a book on Kid LaVigne, I noone thats interested in talking about it. I will buy the Attell book in December and just keep my thoughts to myself. In 70s, it seemed most could talk boxing.

    He did in his w as y. He said in Nigel Collins book, "Boxing Babylon", "Me and my terrible temper are responsible for this (the murder). Yes, me and my terrible temper. The same temper that made him unbeatable brought about his downfall. His first wife shot him in 1974! Monzon always had so much class. What Leonard wanted to be Monzon WAS. I h as ve his movies and he actually is good. But he never could get rid of the horrible childhood and get rid of the anger in later life. But man, HE WAS A GREAT GREAT FIGHTER. BESIDES ROBERTO, HEAD AND SHOULDERS OVER ANYONE I SAW DURING THEIR ACTUAL CAREER IN MY LIFETIME.

    Other fighters hated him. He didn't care at all for their opinions. He arrived fought his peculiar style, destroyed guys (I love his career set) and nonchalantly walked away. He w a s Soooooo exciting to watch and had an absolutely indominable will and visceral desire to win. Like Pedroza, he knew winning was all th as t mattered. I would pay big bucks to have a copy of his destruction of Frankie Baltazar. He just walked in against this redhot superhyped fighter and BEAT HIS ASS! And to those who doubted him or disliked his methods, he had one message;
    Fuuu$#k You! :) I loved it. The ultimate outside. And, his fights! Backing up Arguello and never once hitting the floor in a great bloody fight. Gatti had natural talent. BAZOOKA was all heart and will and made Gatti look like Shirley as templen and I loved Gatti. But Limon was just awesome

    I think Jack Johnson, Galindez, Monzon, Sal Sanchez all died in car wrecks.
