    Adoptive father, actually.

The Mike DiBiase who fought Archie and also wrestled professionally (he had a grandson by the same name) was a national amateur wrestling champion and also wrestled at Nebraska, taking his only collegiate defeats at the national championships.

Archie Moore was supposed to box George Reeves, the actor who played Superman in an exhibition in 1959, but Reeves died a few days before it happened.

Reeves died by gunshot wound in his own home. Officially ruled a suicide, but there was (and continues to be) some suspicion that it was murder (most likely by his fiance).

George was a fitness fanatic and did martial arts/combat sport training, including from what I’ve read, boxing/sparring. He and Archie were apparently friends.

Whoa... didn't know this. And one of my favorites, King Harley Race was with him at the end.

"DiBiase died in the ring on July 2, 1969, in Lubbock, Texas, following a match with Man Mountain Mike as the result of a fatal heart attack. Harley Race performed CPR on DiBiase and then rode in the ambulance with him. DiBiase was pronounced dead at the hospital."

I saw Man Mountain Mike wrestle at the Olympic in the 1970s.
