:huh Most of the "classic" boxers Kellerman references for analogical purposes were from the 70s and 80s. Are names like Shavers and Whitaker not in your frame of reference? It's not like he's Bert Sugar or something.
Exactly what I was thinkingatsch To be fair though he does reference a lot of the old timers. But more and more often it seems to me like it has been Jim that has been busting out the old school knowledge.
Well that was kind of my point - most of Max's namedropping is guys that were at least active when he was a kid (or not too long before). Yeah, Bert will unabashedly reach back to the cradle days of the Queensberry rules. Atlas is bad too - he loves him some "Henry Awmstwong". It's like, dude, he last fought a decade before you were a twinkle in Theo Sr's balls.
I remember he said that before a fight....and he had it wrong. somebody must have said "look at larry...that mother****er is krunked" and he picked up the slang and ran with it... I remember on friday night fights kellerman said..."to quote the hiphop artist ghostface killah... he's gonna be poppin collars"
