Ok....you are the trainer. You have a year older Oscar, and a more confident Floyd. What changes can Oscar do to win this one?
great question and i think oscar and the promoters are thinking the same thing he needs to use pretty much the same gameplan as the last fight and either hope floyd with his layoff has an off day, or he needs to catch floyd with at least 1 heavy shot and stop him for the first time. or a combination of both. The judges could also help him again you never know.
Oscar needs to have constant pressure and use his Jab for the entire stretch. forget about landing that 1 big punch, just wear down Mayweather to the body and pressure him into a corner and make PBF fight out of his shell the entire fight against the ropes. obviously in the middle of the ring is where PBF is at his best with the movement. (Papa Mayweather has already given De La Hoya some tip's) I give De La Hoya a better chance at winning the rematch than the first 1. (Easier said than done, But Oscar does have the tools to do it....On paper) Floyd is no longer at his best both Phys & ment right now either. IMO he is ready to be taken.
ok but we all no floyd would never fight dlh like forbes did so he wont be able to ko dlh im not bashing floyd but he knows the only way to beat oscer is to prance around for about half the fight let dlh get tired then take advanyige smart move for floyd but if oscer dont get tired witch he probably will then i can see him getting a split decision for being more active.
OScar de la Hoya has just come off a win, beating a man that stands about 2 inches taller than the Oompa Loompa in the original Willy Wonka flick. PBF just pretended to fight a wrestler for enough $$$ to buy a second mansion in Vegas.
1) Work the jab for a full 12 rounds. 2) Stamina, stamina, stamina. 3) Bring in fast (and durable, if possible) people from lighter divisions to spar with.
Funny thing you make this thread because just today i was thinking this same thing. Well, anyways my conclusion was that ODH should really try to start fighting tall, working the jab, going to the body and fighting smart, something like in the Forbes fight, but also being aware of his defence, and when the fights hits the 6th round, i would advice him to start applying pressure, and really surprise Mayweather, and just when Oscar is suppossed to get tired is when all the exciting exchanges will begin, with hopefully oscar getting the better of them. :think but Floyd Sr, needs to teach Oscar the way to set up his son, both on the outside, and the inside.
atsch PBF just KTFO of an undefeated world class fighter, while Oscar showed signs of a shot fighter against an undersized, feather-fisted, shopworn Forbes who couldn't even win The Contender. Yet you think DLH is is ready to take PBF....:rofl :rofl :rofl
