It seems all the hype surrounding Solis involves his past accomplishments. He was a fast fighter with good movement and footwork. He used to be a hard puncher. He was a gold metalist and amatuer champ. But none of these things were on display in his last fight, or his last couple of pro fights. Whatever Solis was in the past isn't what he is anymore.
Solis is probably the most accomplished fighter Vitali has faced. Welliver, Barrett, Drumond, and Austin are decent scalps. Better wins than Vitali's past 3 voluntary defenses. Probably a better resume than Arreola or Gomez (at heavy) as well. Not to say I give him in any chance unless he magically shapes up.
Solis - Welliver looked like two whales plodding around the ring. It was really pathetic. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwV2v1756Gg[/ame]
Solis, from the 2 fights I've seen of him, is nothing special. Probably because he's just too fat right now. It wouldn't surprise me if Solis never fought again after this fight. He's got his big payday, now he'll cash out. He's obviously not concerned about being the best fighter he can, just take a look at him.
Sometimes you can over analyse certain fights. If your moaning about Solis not beating Austin until the 10th round. You could argue that Austin got a draw against Ibragimov, who Wlad took the full distance. Austin couldn't hurt Odlanier, he wouldn't survive the 12 rounds, that's why he got himself disqualified...
Solis is definitely the most skilled fighter he's fought since lewis, just lacking in size and conditioning
Austin sucks and Solis ain't too much better, either..... YAWN!:-(dead V.K. will inflict pain on Solis from the getgo..:good:bbb MR.BILL:deal
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKkXL3M3JXs[/ame] He looked great in 2001. If he manages to go down to 230 or even 220 pounds I'll give him a shot. If not, he's gonna get Kirk Johnson-ed or very widely UDed due to Vitali's declined power. Against Austin Solis' weight proved to be a major factor regarding stamina.
I can see the fight being like Clottey vs Pacquiao. With Vitali throwing a shitload of punches which he usually does, and Odlanier shelling up with his high guard. While throwing the occasional counter...
