Just read on another site that Odlanier Solis was released by Top Rank and is signing with Don King. Might be a good move since he is wasting his career away and a shake up could help out.

It is a horrible move for Solis. It will not bring him any good. King does not have any good fighters among heavyweights. He is "causa perduta".

King fighters seem to spend a lot of time sitting around waiting for fights these days and that would be disasterous for Solis. He's always shown preferential treatment to Heavyweights though and if he thinks Solis has a shot at being #1 in the division, maybe he'll get some results.

Leaving Top Rank for King doesn't seem like a good idea on the face of it.

I don't know. Top Rank doesn't have any heavyweights either and King may atleast still have a few veterans in his stable. It just felt that Solis, for all his talent, wasn't going anywhere. He's 30 and has weight trouble so I don't see him having a long career so he needs to do what he's going to do soon. I'm not sure how this will all play out but a change of pace may do his career some good.

It assures us that Solis won't be in any title shots any time soon, with infamous bull**** King's demands at the core of the negotiations.

O man... another potential Klit opponent gone to waste.
If the fight can be made, King demands $4M for his man again so it will never happen.

Solis is a very dangerous live beast and could be trouble for both Klitschkos. Very strong, powerful, technically excellent and his weight is not a factor as he can go 12 rounds no problem. This is the sleeping bear of the hwt division. People do not realize how dangerous Solis is. Solis was absolitelyu obliterate Hayefaker.

The Problem for Solis is he's hard to promote into an major attraction. Good move for King to get back into the mix.

King also has NY State HW Champ Darrel Madison. I heard he bought JD Chapmans contract up off the scrap heap a ways back. Who else does he have these days? Is Ray Austin still with him? Think he is suing him or something.

Haye + King, Solis + King = Haye v. Solis?

At any rate, good chance that a King fighter will move up the WBA rankings.

Interesting. Given King's character it's hard to see this as a good move. But maybe it has to do with King's influence in the WBC and WBA.

Note that Ray Austin, the mandatory, used to be a King fighter but hasn't fought in forever and ended up suing him and the WBC. Also Valuev, who Solis was ordered to fight. It may be that signing with King means he's going to try to dodge the Klits or force the Klits to offer him several million.

It all depends on Solis' attitude and the people he puts around him. He could have gotten a title shot with Top Rank...look at Peter..he got a title shot. Solis has fought better competition then Peter in the last 2 years.
