That's a big step up. But Oquendo always makes his opponent look bad, and Solis is already pretty boring as a pro........ this fight will be a nightmare ! Solis REALLY needs to drop 20-30lbs if he wants to make anything out of his career. As an amateur he was awesome, but in the pros his footwork is **** because of the spare tire around his waste. His power is mediocre too, but he can't really help that.
atsch Now that's just plainly ridiculous. I take it you have never seen or heard of Solis. Solis is one of the most talented and technically gifted boxers in the division, it's as simple as that. His handicap is poor conditioning, too much fat, but not too much punching power. Ask Solis' ***** Haye what he thinks of his skills.
it's too late for fres who doesn't have the size and pop to compensate for the declining of his reflexes in his mid 30s. as stated he was underrated and beat prime byrd and ruiz in my book and it's a shame he didn't get more money fights sooner though some of this has got to be his fault. even at this stage he could probably with a smart game plan out point the usually out of shape solis but gotta believe solis will be given the decision if the fight is at all close (given he's supposed to be an up and comer and his people will probably pay more to the judges).
He's nothing like Sam Peter. Only the fact they are both fat. On topic, I'll wait till the weigh in to decide. If Solis comes into the fight in shape, I feel he beats Oquendo. If he doesn't, Fast Fres will decision him.
Tommy your so young and so niaeve! theres no way solis is showing up "in shape" he just doesnt care enough! Fair balls finally putting him in with some one decent! I see Oquendo beat Javier Mora(who is fighting Mike Perez) a few years back
I only watched Solis vs Long and Solis looked like a bum in there, no technical skills whatsoever, I am pretty sure he gets schooled by Fres.
You are very harsh on him, mate! Solis has a totally different style. First of all he is not -yet- as fat as the African McDonalds regular.Whats more he is no stiff one-dimensional banger, but a fast versatile very well schooled Cuban fighter. Talentwise,he plays in a different league in my opinion. However,I am not sold on him. His drive, motivation, and desire to capture a world title are still question marks to me!
